Pinedale is a town in and the county seat of Sublette County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 2,030 at the 2010 census. Pinedale is an important hunting outfitting town and a gateway to the Wind River Mountains. It is also a major gateway to the Jackson Hole area in Wyoming. Sublette County is a county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 8,728. The county seat is Pinedale. It is a sparsely populated rural county in western Wyoming, along the Green River. History Sublette County was created February 15, 1921, of land partitioned from Fremont and Lincoln counties. Its governing organization was completed by 1923. Before settlement, the western Wyoming mountains were traversed and harvested by fur trappers and traders. Sublette County is named for one of those early characters, William Lewis Sublette. Today the county celebrates its fur trade heritage with the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale. Cora, Wyoming
Cora is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sublette County, Wyoming. The population was 142 at the 2010 census. History Cora may have been named after Cora House, a cowgirl who lived in the area. In the early 20th century, the town post office was moved to its current site from a ranch one mile to the east. Dogsleds were once used to make winter deliveries to residents who lived in the Cora area and the rest of the Upper Green River valley. In 2011, the U.S. Postal Service considered closing the Cora post office for budgetary reasons. Residents of Cora protested and wrote letters to the USPS requesting that the post office remain open because it serves as a gathering place for the community. Daniel, Wyoming
Daniel is a census-designated place in Sublette County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 150 at the 2010 census. The town lies on U.S. Route 189, in the Green River valley as the water flows out of the Gros Ventre Range to Daniel's north and the Wind River Mountains to the town's east. Horse Creek, a Green River tributary that joins just west of Daniel, has its headwaters west in the Salt River Range. Thus bordered on three sides by nearby mountains, Daniel lies in the very northern, highest part of the large basin that defines much of southern Wyoming.
