Nœux-les-Mines () is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Nœux-les-Mines is situated some south of Béthune and southwest of Lille, at the junction of the D937 and D65 roads. As the name of the town itself might imply, it was established as a coal mining centre, however with the decline of the mining industry in the area Nœux-les-Mines has evolved to become a light industrial and farming town. History Nœux-les-Mines was first recorded in the 4th century as ''Vitri''. It was destroyed in 882 by the Normans, before being rebuilt in the 10th century, when it became known as ''Noewe''. 2013 Acropolis Rally
The 2013 Acropolis Rally was the sixth round of the 2013 World Rally Championship season. The event was based in Loutraki, Corinthia, and started on 31 May and was concluded on 2 June after fourteen special stages, totaling 306 competitive kilometres. Report Jari-Matti Latvala took his first win of the 2013 season, and his first win for Volkswagen on the Acropolis Rally. The opening forty-seven kilometre stage proved to be difficult, claiming three high-profile victims in Sébastien Ogier, Mads Østberg and Mikko Hirvonen in short order, and Evgeny Novikov emerged as the surprise early leader, building up a thirty-second advantage at the end of the first leg. The 2014 Rally de Portugal was the fourth round of the 2014 World Rally Championship season. 2014 Rally Sweden
The 2014 Rally Sweden was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 5 and 8 February, which marked the 62nd running of the Rally Sweden. The rally was based in the town of Karlstad and was contested over 24 special stages, covering a total of in competitive stages. The event was won by Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala of the Volkswagen Motorsport team, taking his third victory in Sweden, and the ninth victory of his WRC career. He finished 53.6 seconds clear of his teammate Andreas Mikkelsen – taking his best WRC finish – while the podium was completed by Mads Østberg, a further 5.9 seconds in arrears. Latvala's victory allowed him to take the championship lead from another teammate, Sébastien Ogier, who could only finish sixth in Sweden. 2014 Monte Carlo Rally
The 2014 Monte Carlo Rally (formally known as the 82ème Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo) is a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over three days between 14 and 18 January 2014. It marked the eighty-second running of the Monte Carlo Rally, and was the first round of the 2014 World Rally Championship, WRC-2 and WRC-3 seasons. After being based in the town of Valence for the 2013 event, the rally headquarters was relocated to Gap in the French province of Hautes-Alpes. The rally itself was run over fifteen special stages, with teams and drivers contesting in competitive stages. The 2014 World Rally Championship was the 42nd season of the World Rally Championship, an auto racing championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile as the highest class of international rallying.
