Ständlerstraße
The Ständlerstraße is a 3.5 km long street in the south of Munich. It is a part of the exterior ring planned in earlier years. It runs from the Stadelheimer Straße, the corner of Schwanseestraße in Giesing, crosses the A8, is crossed by the chain bridge Neuperlach and ends in the Karl-Marx-Ring in Neuperlach. Due to the original planning, the routing of the road is also generous for eight lanes, but only built to four lanes. The street was named after a family of merchants known as Stantler, who for several generations practiced the craft of blade smith in the area On it are the sculptures "Only Man is the Place of Images" by Jai Young Park and Pavilion - Slanted Walls by Kay Winkler, as well as the tram main workshop, which is now used by the MVG Museum and is a protected building. MVG Museum
The MVG Museum of the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft is a public transportation museum for the presentation of historical and modern public transportation in Munich. In an area of over are around 25 historical trams, buses and work vehicles on exhibit. The streetcars are arranged on two tracks leading through the entire hall. The "CVs" are also displayed for each vehicle. In addition, the museum present more than 150 billboards and other exhibits, such as a subway simulator in an original car from the 1980s, several tramway driving switches, historical paintings, a small cinema and a model railroad exhibition. The MVG-Museum is located in a part of the historically protected Ausbesserungswerk at Ständlerstraße 20 in Ramersdorf. It was opened on 28 October 2007. Giesing
Giesing (formerly Kyesinga) was a Bavarian town founded in 790 (older than Munich). The town was incorporated by the city of Munich in October 1854. Since then, it is a borough of the metropolis. Giesing is located south-east of Munich and has a population of 50,000 (as of 2011). It consists of Obergiesing (part of Stadtbezirk 17 Obergiesing-Fasangarten) and Untergiesing (part of Stadtbezirk 18 Untergiesing-Harlaching). These sub-entities are divided in the Southern part by the River Isar. Giesing was one of the first villages in the perimeter of Munich to be incorporated into the city of Munich in 1854. The first McDonald's restaurant in Germany was opened there in 1971. The Military Government for Bavaria was located in the former Reichszeugmeisterei. McGraw Kaserne and the Prison Munich Stadelheim are located there. Bundesautobahn 8
is an autobahn in southern Germany that runs 497 km (309 mi) from the Luxembourg A13 motorway at Schengen via Neunkirchen, Pirmasens, Karlsruhe, Pforzheim, Stuttgart, Ulm, Augsburg and Munich to the Austrian West Autobahn near Salzburg. The A8 is a significant east–west transit route. Its construction began in March 1934 during Nazi rule as a ''Reichsautobahn'', the section between Karlsruhe and Salzburg having been completed by the time road works were discontinued in World War II. Although most parts have been modernized and extended since, significant sections remain in their original configuration from the 1930s - 2+2 lanes, no emergency lanes, steep hills and tight curves. In combination with today's traffic this makes the A8 one of the most crowded and dangerous autobahns in Germany. Chain Bridge
A chain bridge is a historic form of suspension bridge for which chains or eyebars were used instead of wire ropes to carry the bridge deck. A famous example is the Széchenyi Chain Bridge in Budapest. Neuperlach
Neuperlach (Central Bavarian: ''Neiperlach'') is a borough in the southeast of the Bavarian capital, Munich. and is part of the city district no. 16, Ramersdorf-Perlach. It was built starting in 1967 east of the former village of Perlach on the ground of the former Perlacher Haid. Neuperlach is located east of the boroughs Ramersdorf and Perlach, south of the city districts no. 14 (Berg am Laim) and no. 15 ( Trudering-Riem), west of the borough Waldperlach and north of Unterbiberg (which is part of the municipality of Neubiberg). The borough encompasses multiplehousing estates, including several high-rise estates, and is one of Germany's biggest satellite towns.
