Styrman Karlssons Flammor
''Styrman Karlssons flammor'' (First Mate Karlsson's Sweethearts) is a Swedish film comedy from 1938 directed by Gustaf Edgren. The script was written by Oscar Rydqvist and Oscar Hemberg. It was based on Sigge Strömberg's novels ''Styrman Karlssons flammor'' and ''Styrman Karlssons bröllopsresa'', which were published in 1918 and 1919. Edgren had earlier created a silent film version, also titled ''Styrman Karlssons flammor'', in 1925. Three actors appeared in both films: Karin Swanström, Knut Lambert, and Nils Whiten. In Denmark, Annelise Reenberg created a Danish version of the same novels in 1958 called ''Styrmand Karlsen''. The Norwegian actress Nanna Stenersen played the role of Bessie Mathiesen, and another Norwegian actor, Alfred Maurstad, played a minor role as the smuggler Joe. Karl Erik "Bullen" Berglund (30 June 1887 – 27 April 1963) was a Swedish actor, director and writer. Berglund was one of Sweden's most popular male actors in Swedish films from the 1930s to the 1950s. He appeared in more than a hundred films. Biography Karl Erik Berglund was born at Lidingö in the Stockholm archipelago in Sweden. He was the son of Carl Victor Berglund and his wife Klara Erika Hausmetzger. Alfred Jentoft Maurstad (26 July 1896 – 5 September 1967) was a Norwegian actor, movie director and theatre manager. Biography Alfred Jentoft Maurstad was born at Bryggja in Davik (now Vågsøy) in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. He was the son of Brynnel Maurstad (1859–1943) and Lovise Marie Brølos (1867–1943). Maurstad attended a military academy in Bergen (''Bergenske Brigades Underoffiserskole'').
