Sture Gillström
Sture "Stöttan" Gillström (3 December 1908 – 28 January 1978) was a Swedish football, ice hockey and bandy player, known for representing Hammarby IF in all three sports. Early life Sture Gillström grew up in a working-class home in a southern part of Stockholm known as Södermalm. He and his two siblings were raised by the mother, since the father died in the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic. Athletic career Football He started to play football with the local club Hammarby IF as a youngster. On 2 August 1925, at the age of 16, Gillström debuted in the senior team, in the first fixture of the Division 2 campaign, and scored two goals as Hammarby won 3–2 against Sundbybergs IK. Gillström established himself as an important offensive player in Hammarby, competing in the Swedish second tier, and was the club's top scorer during four seasons. Division 2 (Swedish Football)
Division 2 is the fourth level in the league system of Swedish football and comprises 84 Swedish football teams. Division 2 had status as the official second level from 1928 to 1986 but was replaced by Division 1 in 1987. It then had status as the official third level until 2005 but was replaced once again by the recreated Division 1 in 2006. Overview In the Division, there are 84 clubs which are divided in six groups of 14 teams each representing a geographical area. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club plays the others twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents, for a total of 26 games. Västerås ( , , ) is a city in central Sweden on the shore of Lake Mälaren in the province of Västmanland, west of Stockholm. Hammarby IF Hockey (1921-2008)
Hammarby IF Ishockeyförening (''"Hammarby IF Ice Hockey Club"'', or simply Hammarby Hockey) is an ice hockey club founded as "Bajen Fans IF" in 2008 by supporters of the previous incarnation of Hammarby Hockey which went bankrupt that same year. The club plays in Hockeytvåan, the fourth tier of Swedish men's ice hockey, since the 2021–22 season. In its first five seasons, the club was promoted three times. Prior to the 2013–14 season, the club had failed only once to achieve promotion to a higher league in the Swedish ice hockey system when it was available, as league restructuring prior to the 2010–11 season prevented their immediate rise to Division 2 for that season. List Of Swedish Ice Hockey Champions
The Swedish ice hockey champions ( sv, Svenska mästare i ishockey) is a title awarded annually to the winning playoff team of the top-tier ice hockey league in Sweden, which currently is the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) since 1975. It was first awarded to IK Göta in 1922, the championship's inaugural year. The championship's present SHL format did not take into effect until the league was originally formed for the 1975–76 season under the name of Elitserien. A team who wins the Swedish Championship is awarded the Le Mat Trophy. Djurgårdens IF holds the most titles in history with 16 titles, but Färjestad BK, who's played all 45 seasons of the current top-tier league, is the most successful SHL team with ten championship titles.
