Stung Treng
Stung Treng City ( km, ទីក្រុងស្ទឹងត្រែង) ( lo, ຊຽງແຕງ ) is the capital of Stung Treng Province, Cambodia. It is the major city (and capital) of both the district and province. Geography Stung Treng is located on the Sesan River near its confluence with the Mekong River. It's 376 km from Phnom Penh and it's 50 km south of the Laos border. Transportation The river port of the city park is fairly busy, handling trade between Cambodia and Laos and transporting people. The city also lies along the National Highway 7. List of municipalities in Cambodia by population The figures listed in the table below come from the 2018 Commune Database (CDB) published by the National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDD). These data are recorded differently to Cambodian census data and significant variations are to be expected between the two due to internal and external migration. The national census does not record population by city, rather by province. The only available method of estimating the population of a city is through the CDB, which is updated every two years. Provinces Of Cambodia
Cambodia is divided into 25 provinces ( km, ខេត្ត, ). The capital Phnom Penh is not a province but an "autonomous municipality" ( km, រាជធានី, link=no, ; lit. 'Capital'), equivalent to a province governmentally and administered at the same level as the other 24 provinces. Phnom Penh has both the highest population and the highest population density of all provinces, but is the second smallest in land area. The largest province by area is Mondulkiri and the smallest is Kep which is also the least populated province. Mondulkiri has the lowest population density. Tonlé San
Tonlé San, also known as Tonlé Se San or Sesan River ( km, ទន្លេសេសាន, , vi, Sông Sê San), is a river that flows through central Vietnam and north-east Cambodia. It is a major tributary of the Mekong River. A short portion of the river forms a part of the international border between Cambodia and Vietnam. There are a number of hydropower dams on the Se San River and its tributaries. Where it joins the Srepok River in the Lower Se San 2 Dam. Mekong River
The Mekong or Mekong River is a trans-boundary river in East Asia and Southeast Asia. It is the world's twelfth longest river and the third longest in Asia. Its estimated length is , and it drains an area of , discharging of water annually. From the Tibetan Plateau the river runs through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The extreme seasonal variations in flow and the presence of rapids and waterfalls in the Mekong make navigation difficult. Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh (; km, ភ្នំពេញ, ) is the capital and most populous city of Cambodia. National Highway 7 (Cambodia)
National Highway 7 or National Road No.7 (10007) () is one of the national highways of Cambodia. With a length of 509.17 km it connects Skuon with Trapeang Kreal, international border checkpoint with Laos. It is part of Asian Highway Network and of the connection by road between Phnom Penh and Vientiane, joining Route 13 in Laos leading north along the Mekong to Luang Prabang. Stung Treng Bridge
The Stung Treng Bridge is a bridge on the Mekong River near the town of Stung Treng that was opened in 2015. Construction of the bridge was funded by the Chinese government. The Stung Treng Bridge links Stung Treng province's rural parts and its provincial town as well as its neighboring Preah Vihear Province and the border of Laos. Construction On May 5, 2012, construction for the 6th Cambodia-China Friendship, the Stung Treng Bridge, began. Construction of this bridge was undertaken by Shanghai Construction Group and Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision, Co. Ltd. The bridge cost a total of US$2,558,125, which is financed by the Chinese government, based on the CDC report. The concessional loan for the project is provided by Exim Bank of China. Sekong Bridge
The Sekong Bridge is a bridge on the Sekong River near the town of Stung Treng that was opened in 2008. Construction of the bridge was funded by an interest-free loan from the Chinese Government. The Sekong Bridge links Stung Treng Province to National Road No.7 (AH11) that goes all the way from Skuon to Luang Prabang in Laos. Construction On November 18, 2004, a ceremony was held in Stung Treng Province for the construction of the Sekong Bridge and National Road No.7.
