Record Producer
A record producer is a recording project's creative and technical leader, commanding studio time and coaching artists, and in popular genres typically creates the song's very sound and structure.Virgil Moorefield"Introduction" ''The Producer as Composer: Shaping the Sounds of Popular Music'' (Cambridge, MA & London, UK: MIT Press, 2005).Richard James Burgess, ''The History of Music Production'' (New York: Oxford University Press, 2014)pp 12–13Allan Watson, ''Cultural Production in and Beyond the Recording Studio'' (New York: Routledge, 2015)pp 25–27 The record producer, or simply the producer, is likened to film director and art director. The executive producer, on the other hand, enables the recording project through entrepreneurship, and an audio engineer operates the technology. Varying by project, the producer may or may not choose all of the artists. If employing only synthesized or sampled instrumentation, the producer may be the sole artist. Conversely, some artists ...

Voxx (album)
''Voxx'' is a 1980 rock album by the Bay City Rollers. It was the second of three LPs the group issued as The Rollers. The disc featured an unlikely hodgepodge of songs culled from various sources. Two tracks ("Soho" and "The Hero") were unused tunes from the ''Elevator'' sessions, another two ("Honey Don't Leave L.A." and "New York") were re-recordings of Duncan Faure solo tracks, and "Working for the People" was a redo of a Rabbitt song. "Rebel Rebel" is presented in a live version, lifted from the 1977 Budokan concert that would be released in 2001 as '' Rollerworld''. Production was credited to "Ricky Fender", an alias of Eric Faulkner, with Peter Ker credited for the two ''Elevator'' tracks. ''Voxx'' was the Rollers' final LP for Arista Records, and was released only in Germany and Japan. A CD edition has been issued in Japan and in the UK. Track listing #"God Save Rock and Roll" (Faulkner, Faure) #"Working for the People" (Faure, Rabbitt) #"Soho" (Faulkner) #"The Her ...

Elevator (The Rollers Album)
''Elevator'' is a 1979 rock album by the Bay City Rollers. Having replaced longtime lead singer Les McKeown with Duncan Faure, the group shortened their name to simply The Rollers, and pursued a more rocking, power-pop sound than their previous work. The album, released by Arista, was critically acclaimed but poorly received commercially. Neither the album itself or any single releases would hit the charts. The album was reissued on CD in 2008, with no bonus cuts however. Music Dave Thompson of AllMusic wrote that the album featured a hard rock, AOR direction. ''Billboard'' felt the music was reminiscent of 1965-66 era Beatles,''Billboard'', 25 August 1979 with ''Trouser Press'' even comparing the album to the Beatles' ''Rubber Soul'' (1965). Critical reception AllMusic gave the album four stars out of five. Track listing Side One #"Stoned Houses #1" (Faulkner, Wood, Faure) #"Elevator" (Faulkner, Faure, Wood) #"Playing in a Rock and Roll Band" (Faure, Tom Seufurt) #"Hello ...

Strangers In The Wind
''Strangers in the Wind'' is a 1978 rock album by the Bay City Rollers. It was the group's sixth original studio album, and second consecutive disc to feature the production work of Harry Maslin, who produced hits for Air Supply. Early 1978 had seen a reunion of the Rollers' most successful line-up as bassist Alan Longmuir, a founding member, re-joined the band after a two-year hiatus, now on rhythm guitar. The group timed the release of their new album to coincide with their very own network television series, '' The Krofft Superstar Hour Starring the Bay City Rollers'', a Saturday morning NBC show. Unfortunately, the kiddie format did little to push record sales for the Rollers, who were over two years removed from their phenomenon stage. The lush, mature soft-rock of ''Strangers in the Wind'' did not find an audience, and each of three singles failed to hit the U.S. charts. The most successful single from the album, " Where Will I Be Now," was a minor hit in Germany. The ...

It's A Game (Bay City Rollers Album)
''It's a Game'' is an album by the Scottish group Bay City Rollers, issued in the summer of 1977. Background ''It's a Game'' was the band's fifth original studio album, and featured production by Harry Maslin, fresh off of success with David Bowie. Despite receiving a Gold Album certification in the US, the group's popularity had waned considerably since their initial burst of fame, and this and subsequent albums would see diminishing success. In the US the track "You Made Me Believe in Magic" was issued as lead single reaching No. 10 on the Hot 100 in ''Billboard'' in August 1977. Outside the US, the track "It's a Game", which had originally been a single in 1973 for British group String Driven Thing, was the usual first single off its parent album with Top Ten status achieved in Australia (#9), Austria (#9), Germany (#4), Ireland (#6) and Switzerland (#6) also reaching No. 21 in New Zealand and No. 16 in the UK; in the UK "It's a Game" was the twelfth Bay City Rollers chart h ...

Dedication (Bay City Rollers Album)
''Dedication'' is an album by the Bay City Rollers, issued in September 1976. It was the band's fourth original studio album, and the first new album to be released in the wake of their enormous worldwide success of early 1976. Founding group member Alan Longmuir had been replaced by Ian Mitchell prior to the recording sessions. Upon the switch, Mitchell was slotted as rhythm guitarist; Stuart Wood moved from rhythm guitar to bass. Mitchell also provided the lead vocal for the title track. However, when he left the band later that year, a version of "Dedication" featuring a Les McKeown vocal was cut for subsequent pressings of the LP and was in fact released as a single. Wouldn't You Like It?
''Wouldn't You Like It?'' is the third studio album by the Scottish pop rock group Bay City Rollers. The LP, issued in the UK in late 1975, saw a marked change in the group's musical direction: all the songs save one were the band's own compositions. The one outside-written tune, " Give a Little Love", was a smash UK hit, and the only single released from the album. The album also included, in the form of a giant letter, a free color picture book of the individual members, with a band picture on the front. Seven of the tracks from the album would appear on Arista Records' 1976 US-only album, '' Rock N'Roll Love Letter'' using the same cover photo and artwork.
