Strings (band)
Strings () was a Pakistani pop/rock band composed of two members, plus four live band members from Karachi, Pakistan. The band was initially formed by four college students—Bilal Maqsood (vocals and guitars), Faisal Kapadia (vocals), Rafiq Wazir Ali (synthesizer) and Kareem Bashir Bhoy (bass guitar)—in 1988. In 1992 the quartet disbanded, only to make a comeback with Maqsood and Kapadia in 2000. While the initial band rode the new wave of Pakistani pop music, the later lineup ushered a revival in the Music of Pakistan, Pakistani music industry. In 1990 the band signed with EMI Records and released their debut album, ''Strings (Strings album), Strings''. Their initial experiments with synthesized sounds and rhythms were not immediately recognised, although ''Strings'' sold 20,000 copies during its first week after release. ''Zinda'' (English: ''Alive'') is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language neo-noir action thriller film starring Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham, Lara Dutta and Celina Jaitly. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan ( pa, ; born Pervez Fateh Ali Khan; 13 October 1948 – 16 August 1997) was a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and music director. He was primarily a singer of qawwali — a form of Sufi music, Sufi devotional music. Sometimes called the "Shahenshah-e-Qawwali" (the King of Kings of Qawwali), he is considered by ''The New York Times'' to be the greatest qawwali singer of his generation. He was described as the fourth greatest singer of all time by ''LA Weekly'' in 2016. He was known for his vocal abilities and could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours. "Najane Kyun" (, literal English translation: "Don't Know Why?") is a song by Strings released on the 2004 soundtrack for the film ''Spider-Man 2''. This track is on the Pakistani version of the soundtrack. The song is also featured on their fourth studio album, ''Dhaani'', released in 2003. Background In June 2004, before they could record their next song, "Najane Kyun", Strings were approached by the heads at Columbia TriStar Films of India, a sister company to their record label company to include the song in the soundtrack of the Hindi version of the epic Hollywood blockbuster ''Spider-Man 2''. With their massive presence in the Indian pop music scene, Strings were mistaken for an Indian band. Dhaani (Urdu: دھانی, literal English translation: "light green") was the fourth album by the Pakistani pop band Strings, released in 2003. Singles from the album were "Mera Bichara Yaar", "Soniyae", "Chaaye Chaaye", "Pal", "Bolo Bolo", "Dhaani", "Najane Kyun", "Hai Koi Hum Jaisa" and "Kahani Mohabbat Ki". Dhaani by Strings was Pakistan's 1st Record-Breaking Album with 8 Videos And 5 Awards. Qirat Hamed covered their song Mera Bichra Yaar. Concept Dhaani means light green. Duur (Urdu: دور, literal English translation: "far") is the third album by the Pakistani pop band Strings, first released on 21 January 2000 and then re-released on 1 January 2002. Singles from the album were ''Duur'', ''Anjane'', and ''Aankhain''. The album was a result of the band's comeback into the Pakistani pop scene after a hiatus of eight years.
