Strawberry Crest High School
Strawberry Crest High School is a public high school in East Hillsborough County, Florida. It opened on August 25, 2009 with students from Armwood High School, Durant High School and Plant City High School. It was built to relieve the over-population of the students in these high schools. Along with Steinbrenner High School, it is the most recently constructed high school in Hillsborough County. Strawberry Crest is the 4th high school in Hillsborough County to be certified as an International Baccalaureate high school. A number of the instructors for the IB courses come from the International Baccalaureate Program at the older C. Leon King High School, in Tampa. Christie Raburn, former Assistant Principal for Curriculum, is the current principal. Former principal, David Brown, left the school in 2019 to move to the district's newest high school in 10 years. Plant City High School
The Plant City High School is a public high school in Plant City, Florida, United States and is part of the Hillsborough County Public Schools. The current school building was completed in 1972 on Maki Road, now called Raider Place. History The original school is located at 605 North Collins Street. It was built in 1914 and designed by Tampa-based architect Willis R. Biggers. The original building now houses a community center and historical society and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 1981. Hillsborough Community College
Hillsborough Community College (HCC) is a public community college in Hillsborough County, Florida. It is part of the Florida College System. History HCC was one of the last community colleges to be created in Florida, founded in 1968. Only Pasco–Hernando State College, out of the 28-school Florida community college system, was founded later. In January 2008 the school opened its first residence hall, Hawk's Landing, named after the school mascot. This marks HCC as one of the few community colleges with its own residence hall. Florida Strawberry Festival
The Florida Strawberry Festival is an annual event taking place in Plant City, Florida. The festival lasts 11 days and generates attendance of about half a million patrons from all across Central Florida and other areas. The festival is considered one of the best in Florida and ranks among the Top 40 Fairs in North America. The festival is a venue for flea market-style craft and item sales, various free entertainment acts/events, a very large midway, plus twice-daily "big name" musical concert performances. History The idea of the strawberry festival was conceived of by the Plant City Lions Club in 1930, after several attempts made by locals to promote the local strawberry crop. George M. Steinbrenner High School is a public high school in Lutz, Florida. It is located adjacent to McKitrick Elementary and Martinez Middle School. Durant High School is a public high school in Plant City, Florida. The school is named for the community in which it is located and opened in 1995. The school's first Principal, Ron Frost died of cancer in 1997. The Durant High School Football stadium is named in his honor.
