Plant City High School
The Plant City High School is a public high school in Plant City, Florida, United States and is part of the Hillsborough County Public Schools. The current school building was completed in 1972 on Maki Road, now called Raider Place. History The original school is located at 605 North Collins Street. It was built in 1914 and designed by Tampa-based architect Willis R. Biggers. The original building now houses a community center and historical society and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 1981. School In May 2006, Plant City High School was recognized as one of the top 1000 high schools in America by Newsweek magazine. Advance placement examination participation at PCHS has tripled since 2000, the largest increase in the district. Nearly 20% of the 2006 graduates passed an AP exam while in high school. Plant City is an incorporated city in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States, approximately midway between Brandon and Lakeland along Interstate 4. The population was 39,764 at the 2020 census. Despite many thinking it was named for flora grown at plant nurseries (especially vegetables and fruits, as well as tropical houseplants) in its tropical Gulf Coast climate, it was named after prominent railroad developer Henry B. Kenny Rogers (baseball Player)
Kenneth Scott Rogers (born November 10, 1964) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher, with a 20-year career (1989 to 2008) for six different teams. Clay Roberts is the head coach of the Florida Tropics SC indoor soccer team based in Lakeland, Florida as well as the Southeastern University Fire. Roberts has also served as Director of Soccer at VSI Tampa Bay FC, and director of coaching at Brandon FC. As a player, Roberts attended Florida Southern College. Derrick Luther Gainer (born August 15, 1966) is a former American football running back in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Raiders, and Dallas Cowboys. Arthur Dean Cox (born February 5, 1961) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League. Playing college football at Texas Southern University, he went undrafted, and signed with the Atlanta Falcons before the 1983 season. He eventually became the Falcons' full-time starting tight end and had his most productive seasons in 1984 and 1985 (where he had a career high 454 receiving yards). Cox's productivity decreased in the following two seasons, and following the 1987 season, the Falcons chose not to resign him.
