Strange Old Brew
''Strange Old Brew'' is the second studio album by Norwegian black metal band Carpathian Forest. It was released on November 6, 2000, through Avantgarde Music. It was re-released under digipak format in 2007 by Peaceville Records, containing an extra track. Contrasting with the previous Carpathian Forest releases, the sonority of ''Strange Old Brew'' is their most experimental one so far, mixing black metal with jazz interludes. It was their first release with Anders Kobro and Tchort in the band's line-up. The track "Theme from ''Nekromantikk''" (sic) is a cover of the opening theme of the controversial 1987 horror movie ''Nekromantik'', directed by Jörg Buttgereit. The track "Return of the Freezing Winds" is one of the first tracks of Carpathian Forest's repertoire, being present already in their first demo tapes, ''Rehearsal Outtake'' and ''Bloodlust and Perversion''. Carpathian Forest
Carpathian Forest is a Norwegian black metal band formed by Nattefrost and Nordavind in 1992. History In late 1990, the band originally started under the name Enthrone by Nattefrost (then bearing the pseudonym Lord Nosferatu) and Nordavind (who used the pseudonym Lord Karnstein). Together they produced a self-released demo tape, ''Black Winds'', in 1991. In 1992, Enthrone changed its name to "Carpathian Forest", and Lord Blackmangler and Damnatus joined their line-up. As a quartet they self-released three demo tapes: ''Rehearsal Outtake'', ''Bloodlust and Perversion'' (both in 1992) and ''Journey Through the Cold Moors of Svarttjern'' (in 1993). However, Damnatus and Lord Blackmangler left afterwards, and Carpathian Forest became once more a duo. Vrangsinn (Birthname Daniel Salte) is a Norwegian musician, best known as the bassist of Carpathian Forest (1999–2014/2019–present). Biography Daniel Vrangsinn is a Norwegian musician, poet, video, and graphics artist. He is most known for his bizarre stage stunts while performing live with Norwegian black metal band Carpathian Forest. He also does other artforms like concrete art, jewelry, steel crosses, and pentagrams. Vrangsinn is the president of Misantrof ANTIRecords, a non-profit organization he established in 2007. Through this organization, he releases his own music and many other bands freely to the general public with a creative commons license. Tenor Saxophone
The tenor saxophone is a medium-sized member of the saxophone family, a group of instruments invented by Adolphe Sax in the 1840s. The tenor and the alto are the two most commonly used saxophones. The tenor is pitched in the key of B (while the alto is pitched in the key of E), and written as a transposing instrument in the treble clef, sounding an octave and a major second lower than the written pitch. Modern tenor saxophones which have a high F key have a range from A2 to E5 (concert) and are therefore pitched one octave below the soprano saxophone. Nattefrost
Roger Rasmussen, better known by the stage name Nattefrost, is a Norwegian musician, best known for being the vocalist and a founding member of black metal band Carpathian Forest. He also fronts the side projects World Destroyer and Kreft, and since 2003 also has a solo project of his own. Biography Rasmussen was born in Sandnes, Rogaland County, Norway. His first musical ventures were with the black metal band The Childmolesters, which he founded in 1990 alongside his future Carpathian Forest bandmate Johnny "Nordavind" Krøvel. Hermann Kopp
Hermann Kopp (born 21 August 1954, in Stuttgart) is a German composer and musician, presently living in Barcelona, Spain. Biography In the early eighties, Kopp released two vinyl records with a sound that can be vaguely classified as electronic minimalism and then became a member of the German electro-industrial band Keine Ahnung with which he played live in Mannheim and Berlin. In 1987 he participated in the soundtrack of the German horror film ''Nekromantik'', followed in 1989 by music to the movie ''Der Todesking'' and in 1990 to ''Nekromantik 2''. Jörg Buttgereit (born 20 December 1963) is a German writer/director known for his controversial films. He was born in Berlin, Germany, and has lived there his entire life. He is best known for his horror films ''Nekromantik'' (1987), ''Der Todesking'' (1990), ''Nekromantik 2'' (1991) and '' Schramm'' (1993). In 1999, he directed an episode of the television series ''Lexx'', after a six-year absence from the entertainment industry. Terje Vik Schei (born 7 July 1974), better known by his stage name Tchort, is a Norwegian musician. He is known for his time spent playing bass for the black metal band Emperor and for leading the progressive metal band Green Carnation. He has also played with Carpathian Forest and Blood Red Throne, Satyricon and Einherjer. Tchort is known to be married and to have a son and a daughter.
