Stolichna Municipality
The Stolichna Municipality ( bg, Столична община, lit=Capital Municipality, translit=Stolichna obshtina (also transcribed as Stolična obština)) is an obshtina (''municipality'') in Sofia City Province, Western Bulgaria. It is named after its administrative centre - the city of Sofia, which is also the capital of Sofia City Province and Sofia Province and the capital of Bulgaria as well. The municipality is located mainly in the Sofia Valley, and also in the foots and lower parts of the mountains of Stara planina and Vitosha, Plana, Lozen, Rila. It is home to 1,500,927 inhabitants from which 1.400 million live in Sofia (as of 2016). Kokalyane
Kokalyane ( bg, Кокаляне) is a village in the municipality of Sofia, in the district of Pancharevo in Bulgaria. As of 2007 it has 1,859 residents. The village is situated at the foothills of the Vitosha mountain, 18 km from the center of Sofia. The ruins of the Urvich fortress, connected with the fall of the Bulgarian Empire to the Ottomans in the end of the 14th century and the legends about the last Emperor Ivan Shishman, are located in the vicinity of the village. Kokalyane Point on Rugged Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica is named after the village. |
Kazichene
Kazichene ( bg, Казичене ) is a large village in the Pancharevo district to the east of the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. As of 2007, the village officially had 4,977 inhabitants. Because of its close proximity to the Sofia ring road and the nearby railroad, over the past decade the area has developed into an industrial-storage zone with a logistics center and offices of a number of prominent companies such as Werta Logistics, Balkan Steel Engineering, and the Chipita snacks factory. There is a large lake near Kazichene where the Litex water park is located. Built in the mid-1980s, today the park is the only place in Bulgaria offering boatless water skiing and wakeboarding. The village has a single football club, FC Kazichene, playing in the Bulgarian fourth division, known as the A OFG. German, Bulgaria
German ( bg, Герман ) is a village in central western Bulgaria, part of Sofia Capital Municipality. It lies at the foot of the Lozen Mountains, at , 639 metres above sea level. As of 2015, it has a population of 2,500 and the mayor is Margarita Stankova. German is the site of the German Monastery of Saint John of Rila, allegedly founded in the 10th century and then abandoned and reconstructed several times. It features a church from 1885 with frescoes from 1886 by Samokov masters. Since 1928, it is property of the Bulgarian Zograf Monastery on Mount Athos. Until June 2006, German had a relatively successful football team, PFC Conegliano German, who achieved promotion to the A PFG, the highest division of Bulgarian football. Upon promotion, however, they changed ownership, left German and were renamed PFC Chernomorets Burgas Sofia.
