Sweden entered the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Dublin, Ireland. Sveriges Television continued to use the Melodifestivalen contest to select the Swedish entry. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1994 Melodifestivalen 1994 was the selection for the 34th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 33rd time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1,560 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. The final was held in the SVT Studios in Stockholm on 12 March 1994, presented by Kattis Ahlström and Sven Melander and was broadcast on TV1 and Sveriges Radio's P3 and P4 networks. The show was watched by 3,780,000 people. At Eurovision Bergman and Pontare opened the contest, singing 1st of 25 countries, preceding Finland. At the close of the voting they had received 48 points, placing 13th. P4 (''pe fyra'') is a national radio channel produced by the Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Radio. P4 was started in 1987 as a network of regional stations, but national programming was added in 1993 when P3 was relaunched as a specialist youth channel and P4 took over a large part of P3's former programming intended for a more adult audience. Carina Jaarnek
Carina Jaarnek (full name Eva Carina Kvistborg Jaarnek; 26 December 196217 January 2016; birth name Kina Jaarnek), was a Swedish singer. During her career she performed in a number of dansbands, and she participated in Melodifestivalen twice. Career During the 1970s, Jaarnek was part of the dansband Frösöflickorna, and during the 1980s in the dansbands Bosse Påhlssons orkester (orchestra) and Alfstarz. After this, she started her own band called Carina Jaarneks orkester. Jaarnek has been referred to as "The dansband queen of Sweden". Jaarnek's first appearance on the ''Svensktoppen'' charts came in 1986 with the song "Natten tänder ljus på himlen". Ingela Birgitta "Pling" Forsman (born 26 August 1950 in , Sweden) is a Swedish lyricist in popular music. As a student Forsman attended the Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Stockholm. 1981–2009, 33 of her songs have competed in the Swedish Melodifestivalen, three of them winners: ''Bra vibrationer (song), Bra vibrationer'' (1985), ''Se på mej'' (1995) and ''Kärleken är'' (1998). Eva Gladys del Pilar Werner (born 11 October 1967) is an Ecuadorian-born Swedish singer and dancer. She is best known for being a member of the pop group Afro-dite, with which she represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002. Career Gladys mother noticed Gladys had an interest in music and made sure she attended a local music school. She was asked to provide back-up vocals for Big Deal, a popular local rock band. Gladys and the sound engineer at ''Big Deal's'' recording studio formed the house music group ''Real Power''. Perikles is a Swedish ''dansband'' that was established in 1974. Its biggest chart singles are "Var ska vi sova i natt?", a cover version of "Sarà perché ti amo". The band has released many albums that include its own songs and cover versions.
