Stisism
The Stisism Band, later known simply as Stisism, was an American punk rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The Stisism Band formed in the early 1980s as the duo of Chris Curylo (vocals, guitar) and Stu Pendis (drums). The band played snotty, humorous 1977-style punk rock, influenced by the Sex Pistols. Tracks from self-released tapes like ''Dehydration Synthesis'' (1983) could often be heard on DJ Pat Duncan's long-running 1980s punk radio show on WFMU. By the time of their first official record, a four-song 7-inch EP called ''Introducing.... Stisism'', released in 1984 on Mutha Records, the band had been joined by lead vocalist Mikey Plague and bassist Fiona Lynn. The March 1986 issue of '' Maximumrocknroll'' featured an extensive five-page interview with the band. Man's Ruin Records
Man's Ruin Records was an independent record label owned and founded by San Francisco Bay Area artist Frank Kozik. After the 1994 release of Man's Ruin's first record ''Experimental Audio Research (EAR): Delta 6'' Kozik worked with artists whom he wanted to release. He also designed all of the sleeve-art for the releases. The catalog of Man's Ruin is vast--including relatively famous bands such as: The Hellacopters, Nebula, Kyuss, High on Fire, Entombed, Turbonegro, 13eaver, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Sex Pistols, and also less known bands such as: FuckEmos, Soulpreacher, Angelrot, and Los Cowslingers. Steven Blush is an American author, journalist, record collector and film maker who is best known for his book ''American Hardcore'' and the movie of the same name. Blush has written five books, is the founder of ''Seconds'' magazine and has written articles for many magazines. Two of his books have been made into movies. Blush's work mainly specializes in hardcore punk music. Background Blush grew up in a Jewish family in suburban New Jersey. WFMU is a listener-supported, independent community radio station, licensed to East Orange, New Jersey. Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band formed in Bolton, England in 1976 by singer-songwriter-guitarist Pete Shelley and singer-songwriter Howard Devoto. They are regarded as a seminal influence on the Manchester music scene, the independent record label movement, punk rock, power pop, and pop punk. They achieved commercial success with singles that fused pop craftsmanship with rapid-fire punk energy.
