Steven Pinder
Steven Pinder (born 30 March 1960) is an English actor, known for his roles on the British soap operas '' Crossroads'' (1985–1987) and '' Brookside'' (1990–2003). Early life Pinder was born on 30 March 1960 in Whalley, Lancashire, England. He has a younger sister, Catherine, who is 11 years younger and works in agriculture. He grew up on Downham Avenue in Great Harwood. His father was the bank manager of the NatWest in Blackburn. He got his first job working in a cemetery when he was 15. He joined Blackburn Arts Club then Manchester Youth Theatre at 17. He attended Norden High School on Stourton Street in Rishton near Blackburn, where he took his A levels. He went to the Drama Centre London (now part of the University of the Arts London) in Clerkenwell. Career Pinder is known for his role in the soap opera '' Brookside''. ''Crossroads'' (later known as ''Crossroads Motel'' and ''Crossroads King's Oak'') is a British television soap opera that ran on ITV over two periods – the original 1964 to 1988 run, followed by a short revival from 2001 to 2003. Set in a fictional motel (hotel in the revival) in the Midlands, ''Crossroads'' became a byword for cheap production values, particularly in the 1970s and early 1980s. Despite this, the series regularly attracted huge audiences during this time, with ratings as high as 15 million viewers. Wyvern Theatre
The Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, Wiltshire, England, opened in 1971. It is managed on behalf of Swindon Borough Council by Wyvern Theatre Ltd, a subsidiary of HQ Theatres Ltd. The auditorium has 635 seats, all designed to be within 70 feet from the stage. History The theatre was built in 1968–71 by Casson, Conder and Partner as part of Swindon Civic Centre. It is named after the mythical wyvern which was once the emblem of the kings of Wessex. The building was opened on 7 September 1971 by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The first performance was by a Ukrainian dance company. On 3 September 2006, it closed temporarily after the discovery of traces of asbestos in the venue's offices and roof void during a routine inspection. ''The Big Breakfast'' is a British breakfast light entertainment television programme that was broadcast on Channel 4. Originally presented by Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin, the show was latterly presented by Mo Gilligan and AJ Odudu. ''Abigail's Party'' is a play for stage and television, devised and directed in 1977 by Mike Leigh. It is a suburban situation comedy of manners, and a satire on the aspirations and tastes of the new middle class that emerged in Britain in the 1970s. The play developed in lengthy improvisations during which Mike Leigh explored the characters with the actors, but did not always reveal the incidents that would occur during the play. The production opened in April 1977 at the Hampstead Theatre, and returned after its initial run in the summer of 1977, for 104 performances in all.
