Morbid Angel is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida. Formed in 1983, the group was originally a trio featuring bassist and vocalist Dallas Ward, guitarist and keyboardist Trey Azagthoth, and drummer and vocalist Mike Browning. The band's current lineup includes constant member Azagthoth alongside bassist and vocalist Steve Tucker (initially a member from 1997 to 2001, from 2003 to 2004, and most recently since 2015), drummer Scott Fuller and guitarist Dan Vadim Von (both of whom joined in 2017). History 1983–1998 Morbid Angel was formed in 1983 by Dallas Ward, Trey Azagthoth and Mike Browning, with vocals initially handled by Ward. After brief stints in 1984 and 1985 with Terri Samuels and Kenny Bamber, respectively, vocal duties were taken over by Browning and guitarist Richard Brunelle, the latter of whom joined in 1985. Erik Rutan
Erik Rutan (born June 10, 1971) is an American heavy metal musician and producer from New Jersey. He is the guitarist and lead vocalist of death metal band Hate Eternal and lead guitarist for Cannibal Corpse, who he fully joined in 2021 after acting as a fill-in guitarist during their 2019 tour. Rutan has also spent time with Morbid Angel (three different stints) and Ripping Corpse. When not performing, Rutan operates his own recording studio in Florida called Mana Recording Studios. Recording Rutan started his metal career with Ripping Corpse, recording one album titled '' Dreaming with the Dead'' released in 1991. Around 1995, he left to join Morbid Angel, recording ''Domination'' (1995) before leaving in 1996 to found his own band, Hate Eternal, releasing their first album '' Conquering the Throne'' in 1999. Kingdoms Disdained
''Kingdoms Disdained'' is the ninth studio album by American death metal band Morbid Angel, which was released on December 1, 2017 by Silver Lining Music. It is the first album since 2003's ''Heretic'' to feature Steve Tucker and the introduction of Annihilated drummer Scott Fuller. It is also the first to not feature David Vincent, Destructhor and Tim Yeung since 2011's ''Illud Divinum Insanus'', as all three members left the band in 2015. ''Illud Divinum Insanus'' is the eighth studio album by American death metal band Morbid Angel. It was released on June 7, 2011, by independent French record label Season of Mist. It is Morbid Angel's first album since ''Heretic'' (2003), the band's longest gap to date between studio albums. This is the only Morbid Angel album to feature guitarist Destructhor and drummer Tim Yeung, making it their first not to feature Pete Sandoval, who was recovering from surgery. Tim Yeung
Tim Yeung (born November 27, 1978) is an American extreme metal drummer. He currently performs in the band I Am Morbid, which plays Morbid Angel songs and also features Morbid Angel's former vocalist/bassist David Vincent (musician), David Vincent. Biography Yeung attended Hochstein School of Music & Dance in Rochester, New York and graduated in 1995. He was first introduced to the death metal genre in the 1980s. His breakout performance was in 1999 on Hate Eternal's debut album ''Conquering the Throne'', after which he became a big name in the death metal scene. Zyklon was a Norwegian blackened death metal band formed in 1998 by Samoth and Trym of Emperor, along with members of Myrkskog. Their style has been described as modern death metal with black and industrial undertones. Thor Anders Myhren (born 8 March 1978), better known as Destructhor, is a Norwegian musician and composer, currently the vocalist and guitarist for metal band Myrkskog and guitarist for black metal band Nordjevel. He is also the former guitarist for bands Morbid Angel and Zyklon. He joined Morbid Angel in 2008 and departed in 2015. He has worked as a live guitarist with 1349 including Inferno festival in 2008 and 2015. Monstrosity is an American death metal band which originated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, during the Florida death metal scene of the early 1990s. History Vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher and drummer Lee Harrison and bass player Mark Van Erp were the founders of Monstrosity. Harrison had just left the band Malevolent Creation and George Fisher gave up a band in his hometown of Maryland and came to Florida in 1990. Jon Rubin who had played guitar in Malevolent Creation also joined to form Monstrosity. Mark Van Erp played bass in the band Cynic and he left Cynic to join Monstrosity. The four members of Monstrosity signed with Nuclear Blast (Germany). Jason Gobel who was a member of Cynic helped Monstrosity record '' Imperial Doom'' when they entered the recording studio. ''Heretic'' is the seventh studio album by the Florida death metal band Morbid Angel. This would be their last under Earache Records, as the band decided not to renew its contract, and also the last to feature Pete Sandoval and with Steve Tucker until his return on 2017's '' Kingdoms Disdained''. The album was recorded at Diet of Worms Studios by Juan Gonzalez. ''Heretic'' is the band's first album not recorded at Morrisound Recording. The second track, "Enshrined by Grace", is featured on '' The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'' soundtrack. It also had a music video which received airplay in the months following the album release. Jared W. Anderson (December 28, 1974 – October 14, 2006) was an American death metal musician best known as the bassist and vocalist of Morbid Angel from 2001 to 2002 and Hate Eternal from 1998 to 2003. Jared Anderson formed his first band, Internecine, in December, 1997 at the age of 22, and saw his six-year career interrupted in 2003 when he was forced to leave Hate Eternal as a result of struggles with substance abuse. He co-wrote all of the songs for Internecine with Shannon Purdon and released two demos, one in 1993 and another in 1997. ''The Book of Lambs'' was released in 2001. Hate Eternal is a death metal band from St. Petersburg, Florida. The band currently consists of founding guitarist/vocalist Erik Rutan and bassist J. J. Hrubovcak. Gateways To Annihilation
''Gateways to Annihilation'' is the sixth studio album by the death metal band Morbid Angel. This album saw a change in musical style as the speed-laden intensity of the previous album ''Formulas Fatal to the Flesh'' was abandoned for a slower, more droning style, reminiscent of ''Blessed Are the Sick''. This is also the first album in which Steve Tucker contributed lyrics and music to the band. It is also the second and last album to feature Erik Rutan as a member of Morbid Angel. Dan Seagrave painted the album cover. This marks the first Morbid Angel album cover he had painted since ''Altars of Madness''. The intro track name "Kawazu" is an archaic Japanese word meaning "frog", which explains the sounds of frogs croaking on the track.
