Steve Swaja
Steve Swaja is an American Dragster (car), dragster designer in the 1960s. Swaja was responsible for both Tony Nancy Wedge (dragster), Tony Nancy wedge cars of 1963, the Yellow Fang (dragster), ''Yellow Fang'' Front engine dragster, slingshot in 1963, and Tommy Ivo, "TV Tommy" Ivo's Videoliner (dragster), ''Videoliner'' in 1965. He designed Tony Nancy's first dragster, "The Silver Car", in 1963; it was built at Tommy Ivo & d Rod Pepmuller's shop, with the aluminum metal bending done by Bob Sorrell; the car won "Best Engineered" at its debut, the 1963 NHRA Winternationals, 1963 Winternationals. Dragster (car)
A dragster is a specialized competition automobile used in drag racing. Dragsters, also commonly called "diggers", can be broadly placed in three categories, based on the fuel they use: gasoline, methanol, and nitromethane. They are most commonly single-engined, though twin-engined and quad-engined designs did race in the 1950s and 1960s. The design of dragsters evolved from the front-engined rail (named for the exposed frame rails) of the earliest days of drag racing, into the "slingshot" (with the driver between or behind the rear tires, or "slicks") of the early to middle 1960s, to the "modern" type common in the 1970s. Depending on the class they run in, dragsters can be injected or supercharged (or turbocharged), with a variety of possible engines. Fred Fischback
Fred C. Fishback (born Moscu Fischback; January 18, 1894January 6, 1925) was a film director, actor, screenwriter, and producer of the silent era. Following the 1921 scandal surrounding Roscoe Arbuckle, in which he was involved, Fishback worked mostly under the pseudonym Fred Hibbard. Biography Fred Fishback was born Moscu Fischback (sometimes spelled Fischbach) on January 18, 1894, in Bucharest, Romania. He immigrated to the United States around 1900, and made his motion picture debut with Thomas H. Ince in 1912. As Freddy Fischbach, he became a cameraman at Mack Sennett's Keystone studio, where he worked with comedy star Roscoe Arbuckle. Sennett promoted Fischbach to director, with his surname Americanized to Fred Fishback. A roadster (also spider, spyder) is an open two-seat car with emphasis on sporting appearance or character. Initially an American term for a two-seat car with no weather protection, usage has spread internationally and has evolved to include two-seat convertibles. The roadster was also a style of racing car driven in United States Auto Club (USAC) Championship Racing, including the Indianapolis 500, in the 1950s and 1960s. This type of racing car was superseded by rear-mid-engine cars. Eagle Electric Manufacturing Company, founded in 1920, was a maker of electrical devices, switches and circuit units based in Long Island City, New York, in the borough of Queens. History The company was founded by Louis Ludwig and his younger brother Philip Ludwig both of whose children ran the company after the founders died. The company's New York workers were represented by a union. Picketers were arrested outside the company's plant in January 1938. Virgil Riley Runnels Jr. (October 11, 1945 – June 11, 2015), better known as "the American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, was an American professional wrestler, booker, and trainer who most notably worked for the National Wrestling Alliance and the World Wrestling Federation, later known as the WWE. The 1963 NHRA Winternationals (commonly known as the Winternats) were a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag racing event held at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California on February 17, 1963. Events Jack Williams' new slingshot streamliner ''Scuderia'' made her debut at this year's Winternats, in Top Gas. She also won the "Best Appearing" award.
