Steve Gritt
Stephen John "Steve" Gritt (born 31 October 1957) is an English former football player, manager and scout. His playing career included spells at Charlton Athletic, AFC Bournemouth and Walsall. He was joint manager of Charlton for four years and, from 1996, manager of Brighton & Hove Albion. During a spell at Millwall, Gritt was briefly caretaker manager. After back office roles at Charlton and Bournemouth, he was assistant manager at Ebbsfleet United (2013-2018) and at Macclesfield Town, before joining Dagenham & Redbridge as assistant to Daryl McMahon in January 2020. Playing career Gritt spent most of his playing career with Charlton Athletic, after joining from home town club AFC Bournemouth in 1977. In his first spell with Charlton, he experienced one relegation to the Third Division (1980), one promotion to the Second Division (1981) and one promotion to the First Division (1986). Bournemouth
Bournemouth () is a coastal resort town in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council area of Dorset, England. Player-manager
A player-coach (also playing coach, captain-coach, or player-manager) is a member of a sports team who simultaneously holds both playing and coaching duties. A player-coach may be a head coach or an assistant coach. They may make changes to the squad and also play on the team. Very few current major professional sports teams have head coaches who are also players, though it is common for senior players to take a role in managing more junior athletes. Historically, when professional sports had less money to pay players and coaches or managers, player-coaches were more common. The Valley (London)
The Valley is a 27,111 capacity sports stadium in Charlton, London, England and has been the home of Charlton Athletic F.C., Charlton Athletic Football Club since the 1920s, with a period of exile between 1985 and 1992. It is served by Charlton railway station, which is less than a five-minute walk away from the stadium. An alternative route is the Jubilee line; exiting at North Greenwich, and changing for route 161, 472 and 486 buses, which stop outside the stadium. Ben Strevens
Benjamin John Strevens (born 24 May 1980) is an English former professional footballer and manager who played as a striker or an attacking midfielder. He is currently the manager of National League club Dagenham & Redbridge. Playing career Strevens began his career at Wingate & Finchley and in the 1998–99 season in the Isthmian League Division Three he scored 28 league goals coming joint second in the top scorers chart, helping the side to promotion. He was then signed by Barnet, having scored 38 goals in 67 appearances for the Blues. He was then loaned out to Slough Town and then to St Albans City, before becoming a regular first team player for the ''Bees''. Steve Brown (footballer, Born 1972)
Steven Byron "Steve" Brown (born 13 May 1972) is an English former football player and most recently the manager of Margate. Career Born in Brighton, Brown played youth football with Whitehawk, where his father Gary Brown was first team coach. He made his first team debut as a 15-year old in 1988 before being spotted playing for Brighton Boys by Charlton Athletic. He began with Charlton Athletic in 1988-89 as a 16-year old, before turning professional at the club where he spent most of his career as a defender. Brown's spell at Charlton saw the club twice gain promotion to the Premier League, once as champions and the other in their dramatic win over Sunderland in the 1998 play-off final, winning 7–6 on penalties after a 4–4 draw, with Brown scoring one of the penalties. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. Shaun O'Neill Newton (born 20 August 1975) is an English former professional footballer who played as a right midfielder for Charlton Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United and Leicester City before ending his professional football career in 2008. Richard Rufus
Richard Raymond Rufus (born 12 January 1975) is an English former professional footballer who played as a centre back, spending his entire career with one club, Charlton Athletic. He was also capped six times by England U21. Rufus was part of both Charlton Athletic teams that earned promotion to the Premier League during the Alan Curbishley era, playing in the 1998 Football League First Division play-off final against Sunderland that were victorious on penalties. Two years later following relegation he was a regular in the team that won the First Division as champions. He would play for Charlton and in the top flight over the next few seasons before retiring at the end of the 2003–04 season.
