Steve Gibson (businessman)
Stephen Gibson (born 9 January 1958) is a British entrepreneur and the chairman and owner of Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough Football Club. In May 2020, he was listed 481st on the ''Sunday Times Rich List'', with a net worth of £270 million. Gibson was born in Middlesbrough and raised in the Park End, Middlesbrough, Park End area of the town. Raised Catholic, he attended local schools, St Pius X Primary and St Mary's College, Middlesbrough, St Mary's College. In 1979, he became Middlesbrough's youngest ever Labour Party (UK), Labour councillor, being elected to represent Park End at age 21. He is the uncle of Norwich defender Ben Gibson (footballer), Ben Gibson. Righthaven
Righthaven LLC was a copyright enforcement company founded in early 2010. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada; it entered agreements from its partner newspapers after finding that their content had been copied to online sites without permission, in order to engage in litigation against the site owners for copyright infringement. The lawsuits were much criticized by commentators, who describe the activity as copyright trolling and the company as a "lawsuit factory". Righthaven LLC's CEO, Steven Gibson, who is currently a partner at Las Vegas law firm Gibson & True LLP, regularly spoke to the media about Righthaven. Although its strategy was successful at first, it was undone in 2011 when several judges held that, since Righthaven didn't actually own the copyrights, it had no standing to sue for infringement. Steven "Steve Tiberius" Gibson (born March 26, 1955) is an American software engineer, security researcher, and IT security proponent. In the early 1980s, he worked on light pen technology for use with Apple and Atari systems, and in 1985, founded Gibson Research Corporation, best known for its SpinRite software. Early life Gibson started working on computers as a teenager, and got his first computing job with Stanford University's artificial intelligence lab when he was 15 years old. He then studied electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. Career Gibson was hired as a programmer for California Pacific Computer Company in 1980, where he worked on copy protection for the company's products.
