Steve Foley (footballer, Born 1962)
Stephen Foley (born 4 October 1962) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder for Liverpool, Fulham, Grimsby Town, Sheffield United, Swindon Town, Stoke City, Lincoln City and Bradford City. Career Foley was born in Liverpool and began his career with local club Liverpool, signing a professional contract in 1980. He never made a first team appearance at Anfield, and spent a loan spell with Fulham, lasting from December 1983 to January 1984, in which he made three league appearances. Foley left Liverpool in the summer of 1984, signing a permanent deal with Grimsby Town. Foley remained at Blundell Park for just one season, making 40 appearances scoring six goals – before signing with Sheffield United. Foley spent two seasons with the Blades making 79 appearances scoring 18 goals before moving to Lou Macari's Swindon Town for a fee of £40,000. Kirkdale, Merseyside
Kirkdale is a district of Liverpool, Merseyside, England, and a Liverpool City Council ward that covers both Kirkdale and Vauxhall. At the 2011 Census, the population was 16,115. History Kirkdale is a working class area with mainly Victorian terraced houses. From 1885 to 1983, it was part of the Liverpool Kirkdale constituency. Kirkdale is bordered by Bootle to the north, Walton and Everton to the east and Vauxhall to the south. Boundary Street was an ancient division between the township of Kirkdale and Liverpool before Liverpool's expansion took in Kirkdale in the 1860s. It thus separates Kirkdale and Vauxhall. Football League Play-offs
The English Football League play-offs are a series of play-off matches contested by the four association football teams finishing immediately below the automatic promotion places in the second, third and fourth tiers of the English football league system, namely the EFL Championship, EFL League One and EFL League Two. , the play-offs comprise two semi-finals, each conducted as a two-legged tie with games played at each side's home ground. The 1989–90 season was the 110th season of competitive football in England. Overview English clubs were still banned from competing in European competitions following the Heysel Stadium disaster. 1988–89 In English Football
The 1988–89 season was the 109th season of competitive football in England. The season saw Arsenal win their first league title for 18 years, in dramatic fashion, as they beat defending champions Liverpool 2–0 at Anfield to clinch the title on number of goals scored. Liverpool had won the FA Cup six days earlier and for the second season running missed out on a unique second double. Third placed Nottingham Forest lifted both the Football League Cup and Full Members' Cup. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions.
