EV Landshut
EV Landshut, also known as EVL Landshut Eishockey and formerly known as the Landshut Cannibals, are a professional ice hockey team based in Landshut, Bavaria, Germany. They currently play in Deutsche Eishockey Liga 2, the second level of ice hockey in Germany. They were promoted from the third-tier Oberliga in 2019 after winning the Oberliga finals against the Tilburg Trappers. The team was founded in 1948 as ''Eislaufverein Landshut (EVL)'', but since 2002 the professional operations have been incorporated as a separate entity. From 2002 to 2013 the professional team was competing as the Landshut Cannibals; in 2013 the name was changed back to EVL Landshut Eishockey to more closely reflect the tradition and history of the team. Point (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, point has three contemporary meanings. Personal stat A point is awarded to a player for each goal scored or assist earned. The total number of goals plus assists equals total points. The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the National Hockey League (NHL) player who leads the league in scoring points at the end of the regular season. Team stat Points are also awarded to assess standings (or rankings). Historically, teams were awarded two points for each win, one point for each tie and no points for a loss. Such a ranking system, implemented primarily to ensure a tie counted as a "half-win" for each team in the standings, is generally regarded as British and/or European in origin and as such adopted by the National Hockey League which was founded in Canada where leagues generally used ranking systems of British origin. 2006–07 DEL Season
The 2006–07 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 13th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL; en, German Ice Hockey League). The league was played with 14 clubs in the 2006–07 season, the same number as the previous season. However, in place of the Kassel Huskies, who were relegated the previous season, the Straubing Tigers took part in the competition, having won the ''2nd Bundesliga'' in 2005–06. The format had slightly changed from the previous season. Each club played the other four times, resulting in 52 regular-season games per club. The top six clubs at the end of the regular season qualified for the first round of the play-offs. The clubs seven to ten played a preliminary round to determine the last two places for the first round. For the teams placed eleven to fourteen, the season ended. 2004–05 DEL Season
The 2004–05 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 11th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga ( en, German Ice Hockey League). The Eisbären Berlin ( en, Polar Bears Berlin) became first time German Champion, a feat they will repeat a number of times in the next seasons. The Kassel Huskies was allowed to stay in the league, despite losing the play-down, as Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg lost its DEL license. The season was significant, due to the NHL lockout. 22 NHL players came to play the season in the DEL, with the Iserlohn Roosters making the first move by signing up Mike York. Several German national team players came as well -- Marco Sturm, Jochen Hecht and Olaf Kölzig. Other significant signings included Stéphane Robidas and Doug Weight midseason signups for the previous season champion the Frankfurt Lions. 2003–04 DEL Season
The 2003–04 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 10th season since the founding of the (German Ice Hockey League). The Frankfurt Lions became German Champions, and the (Freiburg Wolves) were relegated back to the 2. Bundesliga after a single season. A visible change for the fans was the league corporate sponsorship by the German Yellow Pages () who signed a 3-year agreement, later extended ending 2009. The Schwenninger ERC Wild Wings lost their license due to insolvency proceedings and the Frankfurt Lions were granted a stay in the league. 2001–02 DEL Season
The 2001–02 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 8th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga ( en, German Ice Hockey League). The league also introduced a new logo, that will stay in use until the 2011-2012 season. The Kölner Haie won the DEL Championship the second time in their history, making it the eighth time they held the German Champion title. Relegation was reintroduced for this season and after a playdown the Berlin Capitals were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. This would not be the only teams leaving the league, as the DEL withdrew the license for the Moskitos Essen and Revierlöwen Oberhausen. The 1996–97 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 3rd season of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga ( en, German Ice Hockey League). Adler Mannheim became the DEL Champion, winning a German title for the second time in their history. Both the Ratinger Löwen and Wedemark Scorpions earned their keep in the league playing against 1st League EHC Neuwied and TSV Erding. The Bosman ruling, a 1995 decision of the European Court of Justice regarding the movement of labor in soccer, had profound influence on the league. The old Bundesliga had national character: German clubs competing for the German title with mostly German players. After the ruling European Union players were excluded from the "foreign" player quota. 1994–95 DEL Season
The 1994–95 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the inaugural season of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga ( en, German Ice Hockey League). The Kölner Haie ( en, Cologne Sharks) they won the first DEL season to become German Champions. The first season 1994-95 started with 18 teams, twelve from the old ''1st Bundesliga'', six from the '' 2nd Bundesliga''.
