The 2006–07 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 13th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL; en, German Ice Hockey League). The league was played with 14 clubs in the 2006–07 season, the same number as the previous season. Deutsche Eishockey Liga
The Deutsche Eishockey Liga (for sponsorship reasons called "PENNY Deutsche Eishockey Liga") (; English: ''German Ice Hockey League'') or DEL, is a German professional ice hockey league and the highest division in German ice hockey. Founded in 1994, it was formed as a replacement for the Eishockey-Bundesliga and became the new top-tier league in Germany as a result. Unlike the old Bundesliga, the DEL is not under the administration of the German Ice Hockey Federation. The DEL is regarded as one of Europe's premier ice hockey divisions behind leagues in Sweden, Finland and Switzerland. Three German clubs represent the DEL on the European stage each season in the Champions Hockey League, although no German club has yet won this competition. In the 2016–17 season, the league was the second-best supported ice hockey league in Europe, behind the Swiss National League A, with an average attendance of 6,198 spectators per game. Iserlohn Roosters
The Iserlohn Roosters are a professional ice hockey team based in Iserlohn, North Rhine-Westphalia. They are members of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) since 2000 and play their home games at the Eissporthalle Iserlohn which is also known as ''Eissporthalle am Seilersee''. The team made the playoffs three times in its first 15 seasons in the DEL. The Roosters are widely regarded for their fans and having one of the best atmospheres at home games in Europe despite having an arena capacity for just 4967 spectators. The club caused much controversy in 1987 when, under Heinz Weifenbach, a US$900,000 advertising deal was signed for former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's '' The Green Book''. Brian Swanson
Brian Swanson (born March 24, 1976) is an Americans, American former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Edmonton Oilers and Atlanta Thrashers. Playing career Swanson was drafted 115th overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks from the United States Hockey League, USHL's Omaha Lancers. He then spent four seasons at Colorado College, and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in 1999. While at college, his rights were traded to the New York Rangers and briefly played for their American Hockey League, AHL affiliate the Hartford Wolf Pack during the 1998–99 AHL season, 1998–99 season. In 1999–2000 NHL season, 1999, he signed with the Edmonton Oilers and after spending an entire season with the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL), Hamilton Bulldogs, Swanson made his NHL debut during the 2000–01 NHL season. Jason Jaspers
Jason Matthew Jaspers (born April 8, 1981) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for the Grizzlys Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career Jaspers was drafted 71st overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He was drafted from the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League. Jaspers made his professional debut in the 2001–02 season with the Coyotes affiliate the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. Jaspers made his NHL debut in the same season, after he received his first NHL call-up on January 20, 2002. Jaspers then spent the next four years primarily with the Falcons of the AHL. Unable to crack the NHL regularly he was traded by the Coyotes to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Jarrod Skalde on July 25, 2005. Jame Pollock
Jame Pollock (born June 16, 1979) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Pollock was born in Quebec City, Quebec, but grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. Playing career Pollock was drafted in the fourth round, 106th overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. After playing four seasons in the Western Hockey League for the Seattle Thunderbirds, Pollock joined the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Worcester IceCats. He spent five seasons with the IceCats, and debuted in the National Hockey League with the Blues during the 2003–04 season. Pollock appeared in nine games with the Blues, recording no points. Pollock was an All Star defenceman on Canada's winning Spengler Cup team in 2003. During the 2004–05 NHL lockout, Pollock went to Switzerland's Nationalliga A and played for the Kloten Flyers and HC Lugano. Colin Forbes (born February 16, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers and Washington Capitals. François Méthot
François Méthot (born April 26, 1978) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre (ice hockey), centre. He was the Buffalo Sabres' third pick, 54th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft from the Shawinigan Cataractes, but only ever played exhibition games in the NHL. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he played five seasons with the Rochester Americans and one with the Portland Pirates, both of the American Hockey League, before moving to Germany. He played one season each for the Augsburger Panther and the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers, Nürnberg Ice Tigers before going to Mannheim.
