Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir
Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir (born 29 April 1981) is an Icelandic actress and television presenter who is the assistant director of RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster. She is a former Miss Iceland. Life and career Ragnhildur was born Keflavík where she lived most of her youth, excluding four years the family spent in Denmark. Her father is Jón Þór Harðarson, a mechanical engineer. Her mother, Ragnhildur Steinunn Maríusdóttir, died when she was seven years old. In the 1990s Ragnhildur was a gymnast; she won a bronze medal in the national championships in 1998 and was named to the national team. She completed an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy at the University of Iceland. In 2003, she won Miss Iceland. Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir (born 2 July 1969) is an Icelandic actress, TV show host, producer and writer. Biography Early life Ólína grew up in Reykjavík with her mother, actress Bríet Héðinsdóttir, and her father Þorsteinn Þorsteinsson, a writer and translator of dramatic literature. She first found fame with a starring stage role at the age of fifteen. At seventeen, she moved to London, England to study drama at the Drama Centre London, from which she graduated in 1990. Steinunn Finnsdóttir (c. 1640 – c. 1710) was the first known Icelandic female writer to leave a substantial body of poetry. Her major works are two ''rímur'' cycles: ''Hyndlu rímur'' and ''Snækóngs rímur''. She also composed ''vikivaki'' carols, occasional verses and a poem on mediaeval Icelandic heroes. The material in both of Steinunn's ''rímur'' cycles is drawn from earlier fairy tale ballads and in each case the main character is a woman who has been placed under a spell, one turned into a dog and the other into a man.
