Kārlis Šteins
Kārlis Šteins (October 13, 1911 – April 4, 1983) was a Latvian and Soviet astronomer and populariser of this science. Biography Šteins was born on October 13, 1911 in Kazan, Russian Empire. In 1925 he finished the Riga 2nd Secondary school. In 1929 he started the studies in University of Latvia, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science. In 1934 he graduated from the University of Latvia. In 1933 he was practicing in Kraków, Poland, at Kraków Astronomical Observatory under supervision of Tadeusz Banachiewicz, and continued there until 1936. In 1933 he calculated the orbit of asteroid 1933 OP, discovered by Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth, and named it 1284 Latvia; this is the first minor planet to bear a Latvia-related name. After 1951 he worked at the University of Latvia as professor at the department of Theoretical Physics. He became an associate professor (docent) in 1956, and professor in 1966. Walter Steins
Walter Hermanus Jacobus Steins SJ (1 July 1810 – 7 September 1881) was a Dutch Jesuit and Catholic prelate, who became Vicar Apostolic of Bombay (1860–1867) and West Bengal (1867–1877) in India, archbishop ''ad personam'', and third Bishop of Auckland (1879–1881). Early life Walter Steins was born in 1810 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was educated there, at St Acheul, Amiens and at Fribourg, Switzerland. In 1832 he entered the Belgian province of the Society of Jesus, was ordained a priest on 8 September 1842 (in Louvain), and made his final profession as a Jesuit in 1849. Vicar Apostolic in India Steins obtained permission from his superiors to proceed to Borneo (at that time part of a Dutch colony) but went instead to Bombay where he exercised his priestly ministry until 29 June 1861 when he was consecrated a Bishop and assumed the office of Vicar Apostolic. 2867 Šteins (provisional designation ) is an irregular, diamond-shaped background asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately in diameter. It was discovered on 4 November 1969 by Soviet astronomer Nikolai Chernykh at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in Nauchnij on the Crimean peninsula. In September 2008, ESA's spacecraft ''Rosetta'' flew by ''Šteins'', making it one of few minor planets ever visited by a spacecraft. The bright E-type asteroid features 23 named craters and has a rotation period of 6.05 hours. It was named for Soviet Latvian astronomer Kārlis Šteins. Orbit and classification ''Šteins'' is a non-family asteroid from the main belt's background population. It orbits the Sun in the inner asteroid belt at a distance of 2.0–2.7  AU once every 3 years and 8 months (1,327 days; semi-major axis of 2.36 AU). It is a thematic sequel to '' Steins;Gate'' (2009), and is part of the ''Science Adventure'' series. The game is written by Mages' representative director Chiyomaru Shikura, and previously went under the working title ''Steins;God''. Overview ''Steins;???'' is a thematic sequel to '' Steins;Gate'' (2009), and part of the larger ''Science Adventure'' series. The developers describe the game as being to ''Steins;Gate'' what ''Chaos;Child'' is to ''Chaos;Head''. Characters from ''Steins;Gate'' are planned to appear in ''Steins;???'', along with new ones.
