Stein am Rhein railway station (german: Bahnhof Stein am Rhein) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen and the municipality Stein am Rhein. Stein Am Rhein
Stein am Rhein (abbreviated as Stein a. R.) is a historic town and a municipality in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland. The town's medieval centre retains the ancient street plan. The site of the city wall, and the city gates are preserved, though the former city wall now consists of houses. The medieval part of the town has been pedestrianised and many of the medieval buildings are painted with frescoes. History In or around 1007 Emperor Henry II moved St George's Abbey from its former location on the Hohentwiel in Singen to Stein am Rhein, at that time little more than a small fishing village on the Rhine. This was in order to strengthen his presence at this strategic point where major road and river routes intersected. Winterthur–Etzwilen Railway Line
The Winterthur–Etzwilen railway line is a railway line in Switzerland. It links Winterthur in the canton of Zurich with Etzwilen in the canton of Thurgau. The line is long, standard gauge, single track and electrified at supplied by overhead line. The line was opened on 17 July 1875 between Winterthur and Etzwilen by the Swiss National Railway (SNB) company. By 1878 the railway company was in bankruptcy, and the line was taken over by the Swiss Northeastern Railway (NOB). Since 1902 the line has been part of the network of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The line was electrified between Oberwinterthur and Etzwilen in 1946, the section from Winterthur Hbf to Oberwinterthur having been electrified since 1928. Rorschach () is a municipality, in the District of Rorschach in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It is on the south side of Lake Constance (''Bodensee''). History Rorschach is first mentioned in 850 as ''Rorscachun''. In 947, Otto I granted the abbot of St. Gall the right to operate markets, mint coins and levy tariffs at Rorschach. In 1489-90 the Rorschacher Klosterbruch or destruction of the abbey at Rorschach touched off the St. Gallen War.
