Stefano Simoncelli (12 November 1946 – 20 March 2013) was an Italian fencer. He won a silver medal in the team foil event at the 1976 Summer Olympics. He was later a teacher in Frascati Scherma. He became vice president of Federazione Italiana Scherma The Italian Fencing Federation ( it, Federazione Italiana Scherma, FIS) is the national governing body for the fencing sport in Italy. Grottaferrata () is a small town and ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Rome, situated on the lower slopes of the Alban Hills, south east of Rome. It has grown up around the Abbey of Santa Maria di Grottaferrata, founded in 1004. Nearby communes include Frascati, Rocca di Papa, Marino and Rome. History The history of Grottaferrata identifies largely with that of the Basilian Monastery of Santa Maria, founded here in 1004 by Saint Nilus the Younger.
