Static Shock Records
Static Shock Records is an English independent record label, gig promoter, and distributor specialising in underground punk founded in London in 2008. Since 2012 the label has organised a 'Static Shock Weekend' festival most years at different venues in the city. History Static Shock was founded in London by Tom Ellis in 2008. Its first release was a 7” from the Canadian power pop band Dangerloves, after seeing the band play at Toronto's Fucked Up Weekend, now called Not Dead Yet Fest. The label's next release was a 7” from his own band, The Shitty Limits, called ''Here Are The Limits''. The label has since released music by bands from all over Europe, North America, and Australia. Sauna Youth
Sauna Youth is a London-based post-punk band formed by ex-members of punk bands The Steal and Captain Everything! in 2009. They have released three albums, ''Dreamlands'' (2012), ''Distractions'' (2015), and ''Deaths'' (2018), plus various singles. The current members of Sauna Youth also play in the band Monotony, an alter ego of sorts where they all switch instruments. The two bands released a split single on Upset the Rhythm in 2015. History Sauna Youth formed in 2009 with members living between Brighton and London. The original lineup of vocalist Rich Phoenix (previously of Captain Everything! and The Steal), guitarist Lindsay Corstorphine (previously of The Steal), bassist Christopher Murphy, and drummer Reza Mirehsan, made a demo tape titled Planet Sounds, then followed it up with their first single, the self-released "Youth" in 2010. Frau (band)
Frau is an all-female hardcore punk band from London, England. ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard magazine'' named them one of "20 All-Female Bands You Need To Know"; rock critic Maria Sherman compares their sound to Bikini Kill. The punkzine ''Maximumrocknroll'' describes the band's highly charged and frantic sound as equal to the flippant swagger of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks. Ashley Holland of the band, who also plays with Personnel and Good Throb, states that Frau seldom plays with other hardcore bands because the hardcore punk scene does not take female musicians seriously. In addition to Holland, the other members of the band are Colette Rosa who sings in all female punk band Woolf, Paula and Núria who also played in the Barcelona band Las Timidas. Chubby And The Gang
Chubby and the Gang are an English rock band formed in West London in 2019. Consisting of vocalist Charlie "Chubby Charles" Manning-Walker, guitarists Ethan Stahl and Tom "Razor" Hardwick, bassist Maegan Brooks Mills and drummer Joe McMahon, the band was formed out of a number of UK hardcore punk bands, including Arms Race, Vile Spirit and Gutter Knife. History Charlie "Chubby" Manning-Walker first became involved in bands in the British hardcore punk scene in 2004, when he was 15 years old. By the 2010s, he was primarily involved in New Wave of British Hardcore bands, as a member of Violent Reaction and Arms Race. Career Suicide is a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in 2001 in Toronto. The band's first live performance took place in January 2002, with first recorded output soon to follow. The band has gone on to record several full-length albums and singles on various international labels. The band has completed multiple tours of North America, Europe and Japan and continues to record and tour actively. Arms Race were an English hardcore punk band formed in London in 2012. They were a part of the New Wave of British Hardcore. History Arms Race was formed at end of 2012, by Nick Stab, Ola Herbich, Patrick Henderson and Oli McVean in an attempt to make music that merged the sounds of United Blood, Condemned 84 and The Partisans (band), The Partisans. Good Throb
Good Throb was a feminist punk band from London that was active between 2010 and 2016. They consisted of KY Ellie (Ellie Roberts) on vocals, BB Thing (Bryony Beynon) on guitar, Ash Tray (Ashleigh Holland) on bass and L-Hard (Louis Harding) on drums. The band formed after having all met through the London punk scene. They started with the intention of everyone taking part doing something new to them, whether that was playing an instrument or being the vocalist. Beynon and Harding had previously played together in a band called The Sceptres where Beynon was vocalist and Harding was on bass. Fucked Up is a Canadian hardcore punk band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 2001. The band consists of Damian Abraham (vocals), Mike Haliechuk (guitar, vocals), Josh Zucker (guitar), Sandy Miranda (bass), and Jonah Falco (drums, vocals).
