State Library Railway Station
State Library railway station (originally under the working title of CBD North) is a railway station currently under construction as part of the Metro Tunnel project in Melbourne, Victoria. Construction commenced in 2018 with the station scheduled to open in 2025. History In December 2008, the proposal for a new underground rail corridor running north-south through the Melbourne CBD was incorporated into the Brumby Ministry's Victorian Transport Plan after originally featuring in a report from Rod Eddington. It was to be built in two stages: the first from Footscray to St Kilda Road, and the second continuing to Caulfield. The City Loop (originally called the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop or MURL) is a mostly-underground and partly surface-level subway and rail system in the central business district (CBD) of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Loop includes three underground stations: Flagstaff, Melbourne Central (formerly Museum) and Parliament. Melbourne's fifteen radial suburban railway lines feed into the Loop at its northwestern and southeastern corners. The Loop follows La Trobe and Spring Streets along the northern and eastern edges of the CBD's street grid. La Trobe Street
La Trobe Street (also Latrobe Street) is a major street and thoroughfare in the city centre of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It runs roughly east–west and forms the northern boundary of Melbourne's central business district. The street was laid out as an extension of the original Hoddle Grid in 1839 and was named after Charles La Trobe. La Trobe Street extends from Victoria Street in the east to Harbour Esplanade in the west. Location La Trobe Street is home to a number of precincts and public and private spaces. South Kensington Railway Station
South Kensington railway station is located on the Werribee and Williamstown lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the inner north-western Melbourne suburb of Kensington, and it opened on 11 March 1891. Freight lines operate to the south of the station. The closest of these lines are used by V/Line to reverse empty trains from Traralgon and Bairnsdale services, while the tracks further south are used by a variety of standard gauge freight operators.
