State Highway 15 (West Bengal)
State Highway 15 (West Bengal), is a state highway in West Bengal, India. Route SH 15 originates from junction with SH 6 and SH 14 at High Road Morh, near Dainhat (in Bardhaman district) and passes through Chandrapur, Monteswar, Kusumgram, Memari, Masagram, Jamalpur, Tarakeswar, Champadanga, Masat, Chanditala, Dankuni, Domjur, Bargachia, Munsirhat, Amta, Bagnan, Khalor and Shyampur and terminates at Gadiara (in Howrah district). Recently in January 2022, the road from Dharsa Morh to Naity Block Development Office(BDO), commonly known as Naity Road has been renumbered as State Highway 15A(SH-15A) since the road is connecting Grand Trunk Road with National Highway 19(NH-19) and further with SH 15. The total length of SH 15 is 242 km. National Highway Authority of India or NHAI has proposed to include section of SH 15 from Champadanga via Masat, Chanditala to Dankuni under a new National Highway from 2022/23. State Highway 6 (West Bengal) is a state highway in West Bengal, India. Route SH 6 originates from Rajnagar and passes through Chandrapur, Suri, Purandarpur, Ahmadpur, Labhpur, Kirnahar, Kandra, Ketugram, Katwa, Nabadwip, Kalna, Jirat, Saptagram (from here it is the old Grand Trunk Road), Chinsurah, Chandannagar, Bhadreswar, Baidyabati, Serampore, Konnagar, Uttarpara, Bally, Belur, Salkia, Shibpur, Podrah, Andul and terminates at its junction with NH 16 at Alampur. The total length of SH 6 is 266 km. Monteswar
Monteswar is a village situated in Manteswar CD block in Kalna subdivision of Purba Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal. History Most of the area between the Damodar and the Ajay, largely covering the later day Shergarh, Selimpur and Senpahari parganas, was broadly known as Gopbhum, where the Sadgop kings ruled for a long time, prior to the advent of the Muslims. They ruled from Amrargar and branched out to Bharatpur (on the bank of the Damodar) and Kanksa. The Sura kings occupy a somewhat mythical position in the region. It is estimated that they ruled between the late 4th century to around 11th century. They were believed to be based in Singheswar (in the northern Rarh region) and Gar Mandaran. One branch of the family was based in what is now Purba Bardhaman district.
