Stark County is in Illinois. According to the 2010 census, it had a population of 5,994. Its county seat is Toulon. Stark County is part of the Peoria, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Stark County was formed in 1839 out of Knox and Putnam counties. It was named for General Colonel John Stark (August 28, 1728 – May 8, 1822), who served in the American Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He became widely known as the "Hero of Bennington" for his exemplary service at the Battle of Bennington in 1777. Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Depot (Wyoming, Illinois)
Wyoming was a Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad station in Wyoming, Illinois. Now the headquarters of the Rock Island Trail State Park, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Depot. The station has also been restored to the original red color. Train service Wyoming was on the CB&Q's line between Buda and Elmwood, Illinois. The 44 and a half mile line was built by the Dixon, Peoria and Hannibal Railroad, and was bought by the CB&Q in 1899. The Buda-Elmwood branch of the railroad, which by that time had become the Burlington Northern Railroad, was torn out in 1984. The station is near the former Peoria and Rock Island Railroad line, between the Quad Cities and Peoria. Illinois Route 91 (IL 91) is a rural state route in central Illinois. It runs from the northwest edge of Peoria at U.S. Highway 150 (US 150) to U.S. Highway 34 and Illinois Route 78 south of Kewanee. Illinois 91 is long. Route description IL 91 serves the cities of Toulon, Wyoming, Princeville, and Dunlap. It travels concurrently with IL 90 around Princeville. Bureau County is part of the Ottawa, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area, and the Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park is located partly in this county. History Bureau County was created from a portion of Putnam County in 1837. It is named for brothers Michel and Pierre Bureau, French Canadians who ran a trading post from 1776 until the 1780s near the conjunction of Big Bureau Creek with Illinois River.
