"Stargazer" is a song written, produced, and performed by English rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees. It was released as the second single from the band's 11th studio album, ''The Rapture''. It was the band's last single released, due to their disbandment the following year. Background and music The track is an up-tempo, guitar-driven pop tune. It was slightly remixed by Mark Saunders for its single release, bringing the bass further forward in the mix. Club remixes were produced by Juno Reactor. Lyrically the song casts Siouxsie Sioux as a dreamer who looks up at the stars and wishes for a better life and to "escape this straitjacket of constraint". "Stargazer" did not chart in the United States but peaked at No. 64 in the UK Singles Chart. As of , it is the final single released by the band. Siouxsie and the Banshees were a British rock band formed in London in 1976 by vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and bass guitarist Steven Severin. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The Best Of Siouxsie And The Banshees
Universal Music Group released ''The Best of Siouxsie and the Banshees'' in 2002 as the first reissue of the Siouxsie and the Banshees remastered back-catalogue. The most successful singles of the band were presented in a non-chronological order. Content This best-of includes an unreleased track "Dizzy" (re-edited), only available on this CD; it was recorded in late 1994. The original version of "Dizzy" was included on a one track CD sold at the '' Seven Year Itch'' concerts of 2002. "Dizzy" would later feature in the film ''Notes on a Scandal''. ''The Best of'' also includes for the first time the complete version of "This Wheel's on Fire" with no fade out in the end. Also, The Mark Saunders Mix of " Stargazer" was used instead of the original album version. The Creatures
The Creatures were an English band formed in 1981 by vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and drummer Budgie of the group Siouxsie and the Banshees. The Creatures released their first EP '' Wild Things'' in 1981. They recorded four studio albums: '' Feast'' in 1983, ''Boomerang'' in 1989, '' Anima Animus'' in 1999 and ''Hái!'' in 2003. Peter Edward Clarke (born 21 August 1957), known professionally as Budgie, is an English drummer best known as the drummer in Siouxsie and the Banshees. He is also the co-founder of the Creatures. He was the drummer of the Slits in 1979. He was then a member of the band Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1979 to 1996. Budgie worked with other musicians including John Cale, Leonard Eto (formerly of the Kodo Drummers), John Grant and Anohni with Hercules and Love Affair. Juno Reactor is a multi-national musical and performing group, primarily based in Brighton, UK. Known for their cinematic fusion of electronic, global influences, and orchestral symphonic approach, collaborating with composer Don Davis and composing for the musical score of '' The Matrix (Reloaded and Revolutions)''. Central to the project is Ben Watkins and his collaborations with a constantly changing ensemble of musicians from across the world. The Rapture (album)
''The Rapture'' is the eleventh and final studio album by English alternative rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees. The songs with cello arrangements, including the title track as well as "Fall from Grace" and "Not Forgotten", were produced by the band on their own in 1993. John Cale later produced the remaining songs in mid-1994. Recording and release After composing songs in Siouxsie and Budgie's house near Toulouse, France, in March and April 1993, the band went to Léon near Biarritz. They produced the first part of the album at Studio du Manoir in May. At the beginning of 1994, they recorded the final songs in London, this time with producer and former Velvet Underground member John Cale, who had previously produced albums that the band liked such as Patti Smith's ''Horses'' and the first Modern Lovers album. Mark Saunders (record Producer)
Mark Saunders (born 1959) is a British record producer and audio engineer who has worked on a number of albums since the 1980s, with artists including the Cure, David Byrne, Erasure, and Tricky. Career Saunders's professional music career started as a drummer playing with Carlene Carter, Johnny Cash's stepdaughter, in 1982. The first time he went into a recording studio with her to record some demos, he was excited by the whole recording process and after the stint with Carlene finished in 1984, he landed a job as an assistant at West Side Studios, London working with production pair Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley who produced for Madness, Dexys Midnight Runners, Lloyd Cole & the Commotions, Elvis Costello and later Bush. In 1985, Saunders engineered the hit record "Dancing in the Street" by David Bowie and Mick Jagger.
