The Rapture (album)
''The Rapture'' is the eleventh and final studio album by English alternative rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees. The songs with cello arrangements, including the title track as well as "Fall from Grace" and "Not Forgotten", were produced by the band on their own in 1993. John Cale later produced the remaining songs in mid-1994. Recording and release After composing songs in Siouxsie and Budgie (musician), Budgie's house near Toulouse, France, in March and April 1993, the band went to Léon, Landes, Léon near Biarritz. They produced the first part of the album at Studio du Manoir in May. At the beginning of 1994, they recorded the final songs in London, this time with producer and former The Velvet Underground, Velvet Underground member John Cale, who had previously produced albums that the band liked such as Patti Smith's ''Horses (album), Horses'' and the The Modern Lovers (album), first Modern Lovers album. Alternative rock, or alt-rock, is a category of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1970s and became widely popular in the 1990s. Mark Saunders (record Producer)
Mark Saunders (born 1959) is a British record producer and audio engineer who has worked on a number of albums since the 1980s, with artists including the Cure, David Byrne, Erasure, and Tricky. Career Saunders's professional music career started as a drummer playing with Carlene Carter, Johnny Cash's stepdaughter, in 1982. The first time he went into a recording studio with her to record some demos, he was excited by the whole recording process and after the stint with Carlene finished in 1984, he landed a job as an assistant at West Side Studios, London working with production pair Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley who produced for Madness, Dexys Midnight Runners, Lloyd Cole & the Commotions, Elvis Costello and later Bush. Paul Verhoeven
Paul Verhoeven (; born 18 July 1938) is a Dutch director, producer and screenwriter, active in the Netherlands, France and the United States. The album features tracks only recorded for the Paul Verhoeven film, including an early version of David Bowie's "I'm Afraid of Americans",Considine, J.D. "David Bowie: The FI Interview". ''Fi magazine''. October 1997. pp 36-41. and a song of Siouxsie and the Banshees' "New Skin" recorded near Prague in June 1995. The Modern Lovers (album)
''The Modern Lovers'' is the debut studio album by American rock band the Modern Lovers. It was released on Beserkley Records in 1976, although, bar "Hospital" (recorded in 1971), the original tracks had been recorded in 1972. Six of the original tracks were produced by John Cale. The album has been featured three times on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and was included in Robert Dimery's book ''1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die''. ''Horses'' is the debut studio album by American musician Patti Smith. It was released on November 10, 1975 by Arista Records. A fixture of the mid-1970s underground rock music scene in New York City, Smith signed to Arista in 1975 and recorded ''Horses'' with her band at Electric Lady Studios in August and September of that year. Patricia Lee Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer, songwriter, poet, painter and author who became an influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album '' Horses''. The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1964. The original line-up consisted of singer/guitarist Lou Reed, multi-instrumentalist John Cale, guitarist Sterling Morrison, and drummer Angus MacLise. MacLise was replaced by Moe Tucker in 1965, who played on most of the band's recordings.
