Aerolíneas Star Perú S.A. is a Peruvian airline based at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru. It operates both passenger and cargo flights within Peru. The carrier mostly flies domestic routes in Peru from its base in Lima, as well as to Puerto Ayora, in Ecuador. History The airline was established on May 1, 1997, as ''Servicio de Transporte Aéreo Regional'' by the chief executive, Valentin Kasyanov. Operations were inaugurated with a single Antonov An-32 flying cargo and charter services around South America. Star Peru Boeing 737-300 In late 2004, Star Perú began scheduled commercial domestic flights after having acquired a Boeing 737-200. Jorge Chávez International Airport
Jorge Chávez International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez) is Peru's main international and domestic airport. It is located in Callao, northwest from Lima Center, the nation's capital city and from the district of Miraflores. During 2017, the airport served 22,025,704 passengers. Historically, the airport was the hub for Compañía de Aviación Faucett and Aeroperú. Now it serves as a hub for many aviation companies. Capitán FAP José A. Quiñones González International Airport is an airport serving Chiclayo, Peru and the surrounding metropolitan area. It is run by ADP a private airport operator that operates various airports in northern Peru. It is the main airport of the Lambayeque Region, one of the most populous regions of Peru. The airport is also used by the Peruvian Air Force ( es, link=no, Fuerza Aérea del Perú, FAP). It hosts one of the Air Force's two air superiority/interceptor squadrons, ''Escuadrón Aéreo 612'' (Fighter Squadron 612 "Fighting Cocks"). The De Havilland Canada DHC-8, commonly known as the Dash 8, is a series of turboprop-powered regional airliners, introduced by de Havilland Canada (DHC) in 1984. DHC was later bought by Boeing in 1988, then by Bombardier in 1992; then by Longview Aviation Capital in 2019, reviving the De Havilland Canada brand. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW100s, it was developed from the Dash 7 with improved cruise performance and lower operational costs, but without STOL performance. Tarapoto is a commercial hub town in the San Martín Province of the Department of San Martín of northern Peru. It is an hour by plane from Lima, in the high jungle plateau to the east of what is known as the ''selva baja'' (low jungle).
