Star FM Music Awards 2019
The 2019 Star FM Music Awards were held on February 1, 2019, at Zimbali Gardens in Harare, Zimbabwe. The awards identify musical excellence, providing a multifaceted celebration of the rich cultural diversity of Zimbabwean music. The 'Tsvigiri' singer took home five awards in the following categories: Best Afro Pop Song, Best Collaboration, Best Male Artist, Best Album and Most Played Song. Janet Manyowa and Enzo Ishall won two awards each. The former emerged tops in the Best Gospel Song and Best Female Artist categories while Enzo Ishal triumphed in the Best Newcomer and Best Zimdancehall categories. Other winners with one award each are Winky D, Novuyo Sea Girl, sungura artist Alick Macheso, Jah Signal, Takura, DJ Tamuka and Jah Signal. The awards featured performances from Jah Prayzah among others. The ceremony was sponsored by Impala Car Rentals. Harare
Harare (; formerly Salisbury ) is the capital and most populous city of Zimbabwe. The city proper has an area of 940 km2 (371 mi2) and a population of 2.12 million in the 2012 census and an estimated 3.12 million in its metropolitan area in 2019. Jah Prayzah
Mukudzeyi Mukombe (born 4 July 1987), better known as Jah Prayzah, is a Zimbabwean contemporary musician and lead member of the band ''Third Generation''. He is popularly referred to by fans and media as "Musoja", the Shona word for "soldier", a name he earned mostly because of his signature band uniform of military regalia. Freeman HKD Boss (born June 22, 1988), born Emegy Slyvester Chizanga, is a Zimdancehall artist who rose to prominence after release of ''Joina City'' single. Early life Freeman HKD was born in Bindura, Mashonaland Central province of Zimbabwe in a family of 6. He grew up in Bindura town where he attended his early education. Career background Freeman started his music career in 2009 when he recorded his first track ''Unondipa Rudo'' which was produced by WeMaNuff Nhubu. Janet Manyowa
Janet Manyowa is a Zimbabwean gospel musician. Early background Janet Manyowa was born in Harare and resided in Chegutu. Her parents identified her passion for music and they sent her to music school at the age of ten. Her career started when she was leading praise and worship in her hometown church. Career Janet Manyowa released her debut album, ''King of Glory'' in August 2015 following the success of the singles ''Amazing God'' and ''Ndomira Pamuri'' followed by her second album ''Grateful'' which was launched in 2017 at the Celebration Centre Auditorium. Dizzy Dee
Desire Sibanda (born 17 December 1985) is a Zimbabwean reggae singer and songwriter, better known by his stage name Dizzy Dee. He moved to Australia in 2007 and currently resides in Melbourne where he performs and works as a disk jockey on a regular basis. Born in Collin Saunders Hospital in Triangle, Zimbabwe, Dizzy Dee moved to Australia at age twenty one, where he studied graphic design. After a brief stint as a DJ, he released his first EP ''U Don't Care'' in 2008. Winky D
Winky D (born Wallace Chirumiko,1 February 1983) is a Zimbabwean reggae-dancehall artist, known popularly as "The Big Man" (stylized as "Di Bigman"), and also known as Dancehall Igwe, Gaffa, Ninja President, Proffessor, Extraterrestrial (stylized as ChiExtra) etc. He is often considered the Zimdancehall pioneer and one of the most accomplished modern Zimbabwean music artists. Not much is known about his wife but he in a few songs has mentioned his child's name Tayenda. The gaffas have continued to defend him about this issue claiming that it could be because of the respect he has for his family that he keeps them far from drama.
