Star Awards For Special Achievement Award
The Star Awards for Special Achievement Award is an award presented annually at the Star Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1994. The category was introduced in 1995, at the 2nd Star Awards ceremony; Xiang Yun received the award for her performance and it is given in honour of a MediaCorp artiste who have made significant contributions in the performance of his/her respective field of profession over the past few years. Winners are selected by a majority vote from the entire judging panel. The award was initially discontinued from 2004, but was revived in 2018. Star Awards
The Star Awards (Chinese: 红星大奖) are awards for artistic and technical merit in the media organisation Mediacorp of Singapore where Mediacorp recognises entertainers under their employment for outstanding performances of the year. The awards are given annually in a ceremony. The various category winners are awarded a trophy, with initial designs featuring various star shapes. The star was subsequently removed and the trophy is designed as a S shaped column, depicting the star. History The 1st Star Awards presentation was held on 26 February 1994, took place at the Caldecott Broadcast Centre, MediaCorp TV Theatre with an audience of about 500 people. There have no other pre-show and post-awards ceremony held in that year. Winners were announced during the presentation of the ceremony, the ceremony also presented a popularity contest, with Li Nanxing, Chew Chor Meng and Zoe Tay winning the Most Popular Actor and Actress award, respectively. Marcus Chin
Marcus Chin On Kang (, born 22 September 1953) is a Singaporean host, actor and singer. He left Mediacorp as a full-time artiste. Career Chin joined the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation during the 1970s. During the 1990s, he was mainly known for starring in comedic roles in the long-running ''Comedy Nite'' (搞笑行动) and various shows alongside Mark Lee, Henry Thia, Moses Lim, Jack Neo and John Cheng. Star Awards 2018 (also SA2018SG, Chinese: 红星大奖2018) is a television award ceremony which is held in Singapore. The Post Party and Ceremony Awards was broadcast live on 22 April 2018. A total of 15 awards were handed out during the ceremony, among which the Special Achievement Award, an award given out to a celebrity in recognition to meritorious contribution, returned after a 15-year absence, with the award last presented in 2003, in the place of All-Time Favourite Artiste, which was not presented this year, and the third ceremony overall, after 2007 and 2013. The ceremony saw ''When Duty Calls'' winning the most awards (five), among which they were Best Theme Song, Best Director, Best Drama Serial, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress; ''The Lead'' was the second-biggest winning drama serial, clinching the two other major categories plus Young Talent award, for a total of three. ''Star Awards 2003'' was an awards ceremony part of the annual Star Awards held by MediaCorp Channel 8 on 7 December 2003. The tenth installment of ''Star Awards'' were hosted by Timothy Chao for the sixth consecutive ceremony, along with current affairs hostess and nominee for the Best News and Current Affairs Presenter Chun Guek Lay. Chen Shucheng
Tan Soo Seng, better known as Chen Shucheng, (, born 21 October 1949) is a Singaporean actor and television host. He is one of Mediacorp's few artistes still active from the " black and white" era. Career Acting Chen joined Mediacorp, then known as Radio Television Singapore (RTS), as an actor in 1971. Star Awards 2000 is the eighth installment of the annual Star Awards presented by the Television Corporation of Singapore to honour its artistes who work on Channel 8. The ceremony were hosted by Timothy Chao and Yvette Tsui. The award ceremony saw numerous changes in the award ceremony, with the Taiwan popularity votes being discontinued and were solely decided by the Malaysia viewers alone, new categories were introduced (such as the Best News/Current Affairs Presenter, now as two separate categories), and nominations for both Primetime and Daytime programs were merged.
