Stan Williams (American Football)
Stanley Neil Williams (December 5, 1929 – September 13, 2015) was an American football player. He was a first-team All-American end at Baylor University in 1951 and played for the Dallas Texans in 1952. Williams was born in Putnam, Texas, and lived in Cisco, Texas. His father, Roy Lee Williams, was a farmer in Cisco. After attending Cisco High School, Williams enrolled at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He played college football at the end position for the Baylor Bears football team from 1949 to 1951. He caught 65 passes for 1,029 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career at Baylor. He was selected by the Football Writers Association of America as a first-team offensive player on its 1951 College Football All-America Teams. Stanley J. "Dick" Williams (19 July 1891 – 25 May 1966) was an Australian rules football Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by k ...er who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was the curator of Adelaide Oval from 1939 to 1953. Williams, a half back, started his career at North Adelaide in 1910 and played with them until 1919. He joined St Kilda in 1920 and the following year, also Charlie Ricketts retired mid-season, was appointed club captain. It would be his only season as captain of St Kilda. Stanley Wilson Williams (September 14, 1936 – February 20, 2021) was an American baseball pitcher who played 14 seasons in Major League Baseball ( MLB). Nicknamed "Big Daddy" and the "Big Hurt", he stood tall and weighed during an active career spent with the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox between 1958 and 1972. He batted and threw right-handed and was a two-time World Series champion. After his playing days, Williams was a pitching coach for another 14 seasons for five MLB teams. Early life Williams was born in Enfield, New Hampshire, on September 14, 1936. He was the youngest of four children of Irving, a construction worker, and Evelyn. Stanley Tookie Williams III (December 29, 1953 – December 13, 2005) was an American gangster who co-founded and led the Crips gang in Los Angeles. He and Raymond Washington formed an alliance in 1971 that established the Crips as Los Angeles' first major African-American street gang. During the 1970s, Williams was the '' de facto'' leader of the Crips and the prominent crime boss in South Los Angeles. Williams' activities with the Crips ended in 1979 when he was arrested for the murder of four people during two robberies. Convicted of the murders in 1981 and sentenced to death, he spent over two decades on death row until he was executed by lethal injection in 2005. The highly publicized trial of Williams and extensive appeals for clemency sparked debate on the status of the death penalty in California.
