Stan Harris (Australian Footballer)
Stanley William Harris (1 March 1909 – 20 March 1964) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond and Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Charles Ernest Harris (1873-1943), and Florence Harris (1876-1954), née Harris, Stanley William Harris was born at St Kilda, Victoria on 1 March 1909. He married Jessie Emma Brogan (1914-1959) in 1939. His brother, John Dennis "Jiggy" Harris (1903-1993), was a VFL footballer with Collingwood and Hawthorn. Doncaster East is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 20 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Manningham local government area. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925. 1929 VFL Season
The 1929 VFL season was the 33rd season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 27 April until 28 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Collingwood Football Club for the eighth time and third time consecutively. Collingwood became the first and only club to record an undefeated home-and-away season in the league's history, with an 18–0 record; and although it lost its semi-final, it won the premiership by defeating by 29 points in the 1929 VFL Grand Final.
