Ghent City Museum
The Ghent City Museum (in Dutch "Stadsmuseum Gent", "STAM" in short) is a museum in the Belgian city of Ghent. The museum exposes the city history and opened its doors on 9 October 2010. With respect to the collection that is shown, the history of this museum goes back to 1833, the year in which the ''Oudheidkundig Museum van de Bijloke'' in Ghent was founded. In 1928 the museum was situated in the ''Bijloke'' abbey - this led to the name ''Bijlokemuseum''. With the Bijloke collection as base and the Bijloke abbey and Bijloke monastery as buildings, the STAM functions as a modern-day heritage forum. Parts from other collections were added to the Bijloke collection. In connection to the historical buildings a new entrance building was constructed, designed by Ghent's city architect Koen Van Nieuwenhuyse. The main circuit of the Ghent City Museum serves as a museal and multimedial introduction to a visit to the city of Ghent. The past of the town is illustrated, but also today's life ...

Signal Transducing Adaptor Molecule
Signal transducing adapter molecule 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''STAM'' gene. Function This gene was identified by the rapid tyrosine-phosphorylation of its product in response to cytokine stimulation. The encoded protein contains an SH3 domain and the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM). This protein associates with JAK3 and JAK2 kinases via its ITAM region, and is phosphorylated by the JAK kinases upon cytokine stimulation, which suggests the function of this protein is as an adaptor molecule involved in the downstream signaling of cytokine receptors. HGS/HRS (hepatocyte growth factor-regulated tyrosine kinase substrate) has been found to bind and counteract the function of this protein. STAM1 contains multiple amino acid sites that are phosphorylated and ubiquitinated. Interactions Signal transducing adaptor molecule has been shown to interact with * HGS, * Janus kinase 2 Janus kinase 2 (commonly called JAK2) is a non-receptor t ...

Science And Technology Of Advanced Materials
''Science and Technology of Advanced Materials'' is a peer-reviewed scientific journal in materials science that was established in 2000. In 2008 it became an open access journal through the sponsorship of the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS). The journal is international; it is managed by NIMS, which was joined in 2014 by the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). Currently STAM is an electronic journal, its articles are continuously published online. Its sister journal, ''STAM Methods'', has been launched in 2021. Scope The journal covers all aspects of materials science, including theoretical analysis, synthesis and processing, phase and structure analyses, characterization, properties, engineering, and applications. It covers advances in research on solids, liquids and colloids, with emphasis on the interdisciplinary nature of materials science and issues at the forefront of the field, such as nano-, bio- and eco- and energy ma ...

Antimagic Square
An antimagic square of order ''n'' is an arrangement of the numbers 1 to ''n''2 in a square, such that the sums of the ''n'' rows, the ''n'' columns and the two diagonals form a sequence of 2''n'' + 2 consecutive integers. The smallest antimagic squares have order 4. Antimagic squares contrast with magic squares, where each row, column, and diagonal sum must have the same value. Examples Order 4 antimagic squares In both of these antimagic squares of order 4, the rows, columns and diagonals sum to ten different numbers in the range 29–38. Order 5 antimagic squares In the antimagic square of order 5 on the left, the rows, columns and diagonals sum up to numbers between 60 and 71. In the antimagic square on the right, the rows, columns and diagonals add up to numbers in the range 59–70. Open problems The following questions about antimagic squares have not been solved. * How many antimagic squares of a given order exist? * Do antimagic squares exist for al ...

UGM-89 Perseus
The UGM-89 Perseus was a proposed U.S. Navy submarine-launched anti-ship (AShM) and anti-submarine (ASW) cruise missile that was developed under the Submarine Tactical Missile (STAM) project, which was also referred to as the Submarine Anti-ship Weapon System (STAWS). This missile system was to be the centerpiece for a proposed third-generation nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine championed by then-Vice Admiral Hyman G. Rickover, the influential but controversial head of the Navy's nuclear propulsion program. Development The Navy issued the STAM requirement in March 1969, and the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company (LMSC) responded to this proposal, which included the formation of an undersea warfare program organization in Sunnyvale, California. It is unclear if this was to be an entirely new organization or part of the Lockheed Underwater Missile Facility (LUMF) which had been responsible for the design and development of the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident submarin ...

Surface-to-air Missile
A surface-to-air missile (SAM), also known as a ground-to-air missile (GTAM) or surface-to-air guided weapon (SAGW), is a missile designed to be launched from the ground to destroy aircraft or other missiles. It is one type of anti-aircraft system; in modern armed forces, missiles have replaced most other forms of dedicated anti-aircraft weapons, with anti-aircraft guns pushed into specialized roles. The first attempt at SAM development took place during World War II, but no operational systems were introduced. Further development in the 1940s and 1950s led to operational systems being introduced by most major forces during the second half of the 1950s. Smaller systems, suitable for close-range work, evolved through the 1960s and 1970s, to modern systems that are man-portable. Shipborne systems followed the evolution of land-based models, starting with long-range weapons and steadily evolving toward smaller designs to provide a layered defence. This evolution of design increasin ...

Ktav Stam
''Ktav Stam'' () is the specific Jewish traditional writing with which holy scrolls (), tefillin and mezuzot are written. ''Stam'' is a Hebrew acronym denoting these writings, as indicated by the gershayim () punctuation mark. One who writes such articles is called a . The writing is done by means of a feather, and ink (known as ) onto special parchment called ''klaf''. There exist two primary traditions in respect to the formation of the letters, ''Ktav HaAshkenazi'' and ''Ktav HaSefardi'', however the differences between them are slight. Parchment Klaf is the material on which a ''sofer'' writes certain Jewish liturgical and ritual documents, the kosher form of parchment or vellum. The writing material can be made of the specially prepared skin of a kosher animal – goat, cattle, or deer. The hide can consist of: * '' Gevil'' (), the full, un-split hide; * ''Klaf'' (), the outer, hairy layer; or * '' Duchsustus'' () Only ''gevil'' and ''klaf'' can be used for holy writings ...

Sofer Stam
A sofer, sopher, sofer SeTaM, or sofer ST"M ( he, סופר סת״ם, "scribe"; plural of is , ; female: ) is a Jewish scribe who can transcribe Sifrei Kodesh (holy scrolls), tefillin (phylacteries), mezuzot (ST"M, , is an abbreviation of these three terms) and other religious writings. By simple definition, soferim are copyists, but their religious role in Judaism is much more. Besides sifrei Torah, tefillin, and mezuzot, scribes are necessary to write the Five Megillot (scrolls of the Song of Songs, Book of Ruth, Book of Esther, Ecclesiastes, and Book of Lamentations), Nevi'im (the books of the prophets, used for reading the haftarah), and for , divorce documents. Many scribes also function as calligraphers—writing functional documents such as (marriage contracts), or ornamental and artistic renditions of religious texts, which do not require any scribal qualifications, and to which the rules on lettering and parchment specifications do not apply. The major halakha pert ...
