In 1917, Stainer & Bell was appointed publisher of the Carnegie Edition. Stainer & Bell acquired Augener & Co. Greg Stainer is a British house and electronic dance music DJ and producer. He is the co-creator and member of the electronic music duo Hollaphonic. Career Stainer first appeared on the music scene in the mid-1990s, DJing in London clubs playing UK garage. In 1998, Stainer started producing his own music and had his first commercially released track; "Weakness" released in the same year. "Weakness" was a collaboration with MJ Cole which was released on Very Important Plastic (VIP) Records. At this time, Stainer hosted a show on the London pirate radio station London Underground. "Weakness" later went on to become an underground garage hit. The song was featured on Warner Music's '' Pure Garage'' compilation album, ''Pure Garage Rewind Back to the Old Skool'' mixed by DJ EZ. Jacob Stainer (–1683) was the earliest and best known Austrian and Germanic luthier. His violins were sought after by famous 17th- and 18th-century musicians and composers including Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and . Stainer was born and died in Absam, in present-day Austria. His designs influenced instrument construction in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, parts of Italy, and several other countries. He may have been associated with the luthiers of Cremona, Italy, in particular the Amati family, and with the Klotz family of violin makers of Mittenwald, Germany. His instruments were the most sought-after throughout Europe until the late 18th century, when changing performance conditions led musicians to seek a different sound. John Stainer
Sir John Stainer (6 June 1840 – 31 March 1901) was an English composer and organist whose music, though seldom performed today (with the exception of ''The Crucifixion'', still heard at Passiontide in some churches of the Anglican Communion), was very popular during his lifetime. His work as choir trainer and organist set standards for Anglican church music that are still influential. He was also active as an academic, becoming Heather Professor of Music at Oxford. Stainer was born in Southwark, London, in 1840, the son of a schoolmaster. He became a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral when aged ten and was appointed to the position of organist at St Michael's College, Tenbury at the age of sixteen. He later became organist at Magdalen College, Oxford, and subsequently organist at St Paul's Cathedral. Pauline Anita Stainer (''née'' Rogers, born 5 March 1941) is an English poet. She was born Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. She left the city to study at St Anne's College, Oxford, where she took a degree in English. After Oxford she completed an MPhil degree at the University of Southampton. Biography Her determinedly neo-romantic poetry explores sacred myth, legend, history-in-landscape, and human feeling—and their connections to the 'inner landscapes' of the imaginative mind. Her choice of subject matter is perhaps partly a reaction to her growing up in the industrial city of Stoke-on-Trent. The compact vividness of her visual imagery is akin to that of the Anglo Saxon riddles, Symbolist poetry, or the work of García Lorca. Reviewers have also detected the influence of Ted Hughes in her work. She was awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship in 1987. She came to public notice with her first volume, ''The Honeycomb'' (1989).
