Sylvester Stadler
__NOTOC__ Sylvester Stadler (30 December 1910 – 23 August 1995) was a high-ranking Austrian commander of the Waffen-SS, a commander of the SS Division Hohenstaufen, previously having been the commander of the SS regiment whose 3rd Company was responsible for the Oradour-sur-Glane massacre. Only 34 years old at the end of the war, he held the rank of SS-Brigadeführer and generalmajor of the Waffen SS and was a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. Biography Stadler was born in Austria, the son of a Styrian miner, who learned the profession of electrical engineer after elementary and state school in Judenburg but joined the Nazi party and the SS in May 1933. Roland Stadler (born 14 June 1959) is a former professional tennis player from Switzerland. Career Stadler was one of few players who used a two-handed grip for both his forehand and backhand. The Zurich born player was a surprise finalist at the Swiss Open in 1986, coming into the tournament ranked 403 in the world. He defeated three top 40 players, Milan Šrejber, Tomáš Šmíd and Emilio Sánchez. In the final he pushed Stefan Edberg to five sets but was unable to prevail. Maximilian Johann Karl Dominik Stadler, Abbé Stadler (4 August 1748, in Melk – 8 November 1833, in Vienna), was an Austrian composer, musicologist and pianist. In 1766 he entered the Benedictine Monastery in Melk Abbey where he served as Benedictine monk, and then Prior from 1784 to 1786. In 1786, he was Abbot of the Monastery of Lilienfeld, and from 1789 in Kremsmünster Monastery. From 1791 he lived in Linz and from 1796 in Vienna, where he settled the estate of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and was in charge of the Imperial Music Archive.
