History The school began as Rainsford Secondary Modern School in 1939, a C of E school. The school closed in August 2011, with pupils transferring to Chelmer Valley High School. The Church of England (C of E) is the established Christian church in England and the mother church of the international Anglican Communion. Chelmer Valley High School
Chelmer Valley High School (CVHS) is an academy based on a large site on the outskirts of Chelmsford, Essex, England. It has specialisms in engineering, and is assessed as one of the best performing comprehensive schools in Essex; it was given an "outstanding" rating by Ofsted in 2007, and as "good" in 2013. The school also received an Ofsted rating of "good" in 2017. The school has a number of blocks (Old, New, Tech, Richardson, Eastman and Sixth Form) providing many classrooms, offices and study spaces for students and staff. Finances Extra funding resulting from the school's ''Engineering College'' status has allowed developments in the technology and science departments. The school spent £25,000 on a new fitness suite. Due to the closure of St Peters College in August 2011, Chelmer Valley has stepped in to take in a larger number of students, resulting in a large amount of money being added to the schools fund. Geoff Hurst
Sir Geoffrey Charles Hurst (born 8 December 1941) is an English former professional footballer. A striker, he became the first man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final when England recorded a 4–2 victory over West Germany at Wembley Stadium in 1966. Hurst began his career with West Ham United, where he scored 242 goals in 500 first team appearances. There he won the FA Cup in 1964 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1965. He was sold to Stoke City in 1972 for £80,000. After three seasons with Stoke, where he won the Watney Cup in 1973, he finished his Football League career with West Bromwich Albion in 1976. Hurst went to play football in Ireland (Cork Celtic) and the USA (Seattle Sounders) before returning to England to manage non-league Telford United. Mark Leslie James Dixon (born November 1959) is a Monaco-based English billionaire businessman, best known as the founder of serviced office business Regus, renamed International Workplace group (IWG plc) in 2016. Early life Dixon was born in November 1959. The son of a car mechanic, he was educated at Rainsford High School, Essex, England. On noticing that a new housing estate needed nourishment for its gardens, he sold peat distributed by wheelbarrow. Career After leaving school at 16, Dixon founded a sandwich making business, Dial-a-Snack, which delivered locally on a butcher's bicycle.
