St Mary's College, Wellington
St Mary's College Wellington is situated in the suburb of Thorndon in Wellington, New Zealand. The school is a state-integrated all-girls Catholic secondary school for years 9–13. History The school, which is one of the oldest existing schools in New Zealand, was founded in 1850 by Philippe Viard, first Bishop of Wellington and staffed from 1861 by a small group of religious sisters, the "Sisters of Mary", established by Viard. Part of the land on which the school is situated was donated by Lord Petre, the 11th Baron Petre (1793–1850), who was a director of the New Zealand Company and whose family seat Thorndon Hall in Essex was an important centre of Catholic Recusancy from the time of Queen Elizabeth I. Another part of the site was given by Sir George Grey, Governor of New Zealand out of public funds. Thorndon, New Zealand
Thorndon is a historic inner suburb of Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. Because the suburb is relatively level compared to the hilly terrain elsewhere in Wellington it contained Wellington's elite residential area until its best was destroyed in the 1960s by a new motorway and the erection of tall office buildings on the sites of its Molesworth Street retail and service businesses. Before Thorndon was Thorndon it was Haukawakawa and in 1824 Pipitea Pā was settled at its southern end. More recently Pipitea Marae and the land under the Government Centre have been separated from Thorndon and the name Pipitea returned to them in 2003. National Certificate Of Educational Achievement
The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) is the official secondary-school qualification in New Zealand. Phased in between 2002 and 2004, it replaced three older secondary-school qualifications. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority administers NCEA. Samoa National Netball Team
The Samoa national netball team or ''Tifa Moana'' represent Samoa in international netball tests and competitions. The team are coached by Marcia Hardcastle and are co-captained by Opheira Harder-Karatau and Julianna Naoupu. As of 21 July 2019, Samoa are 16th in the INF World Rankings. History They finished 12th at the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore, and 9th at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. On their debut at the Nations Cup (netball) Samoa, captained by Sanita To’o, won the tournament with a final score of 50-41 against Singapore. Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth nations. A common misunderstanding of the sport's origins has resulted in the mistaken belief that netball was created to prevent women from playing basketball. Saviour Tui (born 17 October 2001) is a Samoa netball international. Tui was a member of three title winning teams in New Zealand's National Netball League. In 2018 and 2019, Tui won titles with Central Zone/Central Manawa. In 2021 she won a third title with Northern Marvels. She was also a member of the Central Pulse team that won the 2018 Netball New Zealand Super Club tournament. She was a fringe member of the 2021 Northern Mystics team that were ANZ Premiership champions. Since 2022, she has played for Southern Steel in the ANZ Premiership. Ainsleyana Puleiata
Ainsleyana Puleiata (born 23 July 2000) is a Samoan New Zealanders, Samoan New Zealander netball player who has represented Samoa internationally. She plays for the Central Pulse. Puleiata is from Porirua and was educated at Windley School and St Mary's College, Wellington. She later studied at Victoria University of Wellington, and in 2021 was named their Pasifika Sportsperson of the Year. Puleiata played both rugby and netball at school, and in 2017 signed for netball team Central Manawa. In January 2018 she was selected to be part of the rugby sevens training squad for 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. In 2018 she suffered a knee injury while playing rugby which ruled her out for the entire year. Patricia Grace
Patricia Frances Grace (; born 17 August 1937) is a New Zealand Māori writer of novels, short stories, and children's books. She began writing as a young adult, while working as a teacher. Her early short stories were published in magazines, leading to her becoming the first female Māori writer to publish a collection of short stories, ''Waiariki'', in 1975. Her first novel, ''Mutuwhenua: The Moon Sleeps'', followed in 1978. Since becoming a full-time writer in the 1980s, Grace has written seven novels, seven short-story collections, a non-fiction biography and an autobiography. Pip Desmond is a New Zealand author and journalist. Desmond attending St Mary's College in Wellington. Desmond graduated in 2006 from the International Institute of Modern Letters at the Victoria University of Wellington with an MA in Creative Writing. St Patrick's College is a state-integrated Catholic boys' day and boarding secondary school located in Silverstream, Upper Hutt, New Zealand.
