St Johnston Cricket Club is a cricket club in St Johnston, County Donegal, Ireland, playing in North West Championship. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). St Johnston
St Johnston, officially Saint Johnstown ( ga, Baile Suingean), is a village, townland, and an electoral division in County Donegal, Ireland. It is in the Laggan district of East Donegal on the left bank of the River Foyle. It is in the civil parish of Taughboyne and barony of Raphoe North, on the R236 (Lifford–Newtowncunningham) road where it overlaps the R265 ( Carrigans–Raphoe) road. North West Senior League
The North West Senior League is the provincial cricket league within the North West Cricket Union jurisdiction in Ireland, which covers counties Londonderry, Fermanagh, and part of Tyrone in Northern Ireland and County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. The league has fifteen members. The season begins with the teams divided into two groups, and after playing each other once the top four teams from each group play off as the Premier League to determine the champions, while the remaining seven clubs play a separate competition. It is sponsored by Long's Supervalu. Teams play each other twice per season, once at home and once away, each season, with two points awarded for a win and one for a tie or for “no result”. The North West Senior Cup is the most important provincial cricket knock-out cup of the North West jurisdiction in Ireland. The competition is open to teams playing in the North West Senior League. It is sponsored by Bank of Ireland and marketed as the Bank of Ireland Senior Cup. The competition began in 1888 as the County Londonderry Senior Cup, with twelve clubs entering the first competition in which Limavady beat Donemana in the first final at St Columb's Court, Lone Moor Road, Derry.
