St. Quentin (Pontormo)
''Saint Quentin'' is a painting attributed to the Italian Renaissance master Jacopo Pontormo, executed in 1517, now in the Museo Civico di Sansepolcro, Museo Civico in Sansepolcro. Description According to Giorgio Vasari's ''Lives of the Artists'', one of Pontormo's pupils, Gianmaria Pichi, was commissioned by his hometown of Sansepolcro to make a processional standard with the figure of Saint Quentin. Pontormo decided to collaborate on the work, to the extent that he finished most of it. The saint's posture resembles that of the ''Dying Slave'' by Michelangelo (1513-1516), a friend of Pontormo. The position of the nails in the saint's body is directly inspired by his entry in Jacobus de Voragine's ''Legenda Aurea'', which is a collection of hagiography, hagiographies. Sources

Jacopo Carucci (May 24, 1494 – January 2, 1557), usually known as ''Jacopo da Pontormo'', ''Jacopo Pontormo'', or simply Pontormo, was an Italian Mannerist painter and portraitist from the Florentine School. His work represents a profound stylistic shift from the calm perspectival regularity that characterized the art of the Florentine Renaissance. He is famous for his use of twining poses, coupled with ambiguous perspective; his figures often seem to float in an uncertain environment, unhampered by the forces of gravity. Sansepolcro
Sansepolcro, formerly Borgo Santo Sepolcro, is a town and ''comune'' founded in the 11th century, located in the Italian Province of Arezzo in the eastern part of the region of Tuscany. The Museo Civico di Sansepolcro or Museo Comunale is the town or comune art gallery. It is housed in a series of linked palaces, including the medieval former ''Palazzo della Residenza'', the ''Palazzo dei Conservatori del Popolo'' (or ''Comunale'') and the ''Palazzo del Capitano o Pretorio'', located on Via Niccolò Aggiunti #65, near the center of Sansepolcro, formerly Borgo Santo Sepolcro, in the Province of Arezzo, region of Tuscany, Italy. Saint Quentin
Saint Quentin ( la, Quintinus; died 287 AD) also known as Quentin of Amiens, was an early Christian saint. Hagiography Martyrdom The legend of his life has him as a Roman citizen who was martyred in Gaul. He is said to have been the son of a man named Zeno, who had senatorial rank. Filled with apostolic zeal, Quentin traveled to Gaul as a missionary with Saint Lucian, who was later martyred at Beauvais, and others (the martyrs Victoricus and Fuscian are said to have been Quentin's followers). Quentin settled at Amiens and performed many miracles there. Because of his preaching, he was imprisoned by the prefect Rictiovarus, who had traveled to Amiens from Trier. Dying Slave
The ''Dying Slave'' is a sculpture by the Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo. Created between 1513 and 1516, it was to serve with another figure, the ''Rebellious Slave'', at the tomb of Pope Julius II. It is a marble figure 2.15 metres (7' 4") in height, and is held at the Louvre, Paris. Jacobus de Voragine (c. 123013/16 July 1298) was an Italian chronicler and archbishop of Genoa. He was the author, or more accurately the compiler, of the ''Golden Legend'', a collection of the legendary lives of the greater saints of the medieval church that was one of the most popular religious works of the Middle Ages.
