St. Pius X High School (Ottawa)
St. Pius X High School is a high school, secondary school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1958, the school, operated by the publicly funded Ottawa Catholic School Board, teaches grades 9-12. As of March, enrollment stood at around 833 students. In 1975, the school became a scene of a school shooting perpetrated by a senior student that killed 3 (including himself) and injured 5 others. School shooting St. Pius X High School was the scene of Canada's second school shooting on October 27, 1975. The gunman, Robert Poulin, an 18-year-old St. Pius student, opened fire on his classmates with a Gauge (bore diameter), 12 gauge double-barreled shotgun, killing one and wounding five before killing himself. Poulin had raped and stabbed 17-year-old Kim Rabot to death prior to the incident. He also attempted to burn down the house after he killed Rabot. Rick Chiarelli
Richard "Rick" Chiarelli (born c. 1964) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was an Ottawa City Councillor, and the second cousin of former Ottawa mayor and 2022 mayoral candidate Bob Chiarelli. He represented the College Ward covering part of Nepean and Ottawa's west end. On council, Chiarelli was known for being an "independent voice, often voicing dissent on issues his fellow councillors support" and now for "offensive and disreputable behaviour" and "incomprehensible incidents of harassment" against staff. Christopher Bowie Therien (born December 14, 1971), affectionately known as Bundy, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 12 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons for the Philadelphia Flyers and Dallas Stars. He was the lead analyst for Flyers Pregame Live and Flyers Postgame Live on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Mark Sutcliffe (born July 14, 1968) is a Canadian politician who has been the 59th mayor of Ottawa since 2022. Before entering politics, he hosted ''Ottawa Today'' on 1310News radio. The Giller Prize (sponsored as the Scotiabank Giller Prize), is a literary award given to a Canadian author of a novel or short story collection published in English (including translation) the previous year, after an annual juried competition between publishers who submit entries. Vincent Lam (born September 5, 1974) is a Canadian writer and medical doctor. Early life and education Born in London, Ontario and raised in Ottawa, Lam's parents came to Canada from the Chinese expatriate community in Vietnam. He attended St. Pius X High School and did his medical training at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1999. Career Lam worked as an emergency physician at Toronto East General Hospital and has done international air evacuation work and expedition medicine on Arctic and Antarctic ships.
