St. Peters RFC
St Peters Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the district of Roath, in Cardiff, South Wales. The club plays their home games at the Harlequins Playing Field, located off Newport Road. It is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union, and is a feeder club for the Cardiff Blues. The club regards its foundation year as 1886, although it is not until 1888 that the first recorded reference to the club can be found; this was in the regional newspaper, the Western Mail (Wales), Western Mail, and was against St. Margarets, also of Roath. One of the biggest results recorded by the club was beating Cardiff RFC 14-16 in the SWALEC Cup on 23 January 1993. St Peters have a friendly rivalry with St. Joseph's RFC, another Cardiff team with a strong Catholic heritage. Matches between the two have been described as playing for "The Vatican bragging rights" by BBC sports commentators. Roath
Roath ( cy, Y Rhath) is a district and community to the north-east of the city centre of Cardiff, capital of Wales. There is no community council for the area which is mostly covered by the Plasnewydd electoral ward, and stretches from Adamsdown in the south to Roath Park in the north. Cardiff Rugby Football Club ( cy, Clwb Rygbi Caerdydd) is a rugby union club based in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. John Alf Brown
John "Jack" Alf Brown, colloquially known as John Alf or "Big John",Davies (1975), pg 242. (October 1881 – 3 August 1936) was a Welsh international rugby union forward player who played club rugby for Cardiff and county rugby for Glamorgan. Brown was capped seven times for Wales and although he missed facing the first touring South African team in 1906 with Wales, he faced the tourist with both Cardiff and Glamorgan. Brown was reputed to be an extremely tough and physical forward player,Billot (1974), pg 29. which was reflected in his manual occupation as a coal trimmer at Cardiff Docks. Billy O'Neill (rugby)
William O'Neill (5 June 1878 – 2 April 1955), often recorded as Billy O'Neil or Billy Neil, was a Welsh dual-code international rugby union and rugby league front row player who played club level rugby union (RU) for Cardiff and Aberavon, and as a professional rugby league footballer he represented Warrington ( Heritage № 154). O'Neill was capped eleven times for the Wales rugby union national team, and twice for the Wales national league team. Although playing throughout the 1904/1905 season, he missed the classic 1905 Wales win over the Original All Blacks. He is often registered in many sources under the name Billy Neill or Neil because the Welsh Rugby Union didn't want him to sound like he was Irish. The ''Western Mail'' is a daily newspaper published by Media Wales Ltd in Cardiff, Wales owned by the UK's largest newspaper company, Reach plc. The Sunday edition of the newspaper is published under the title ''Wales on Sunday''. Cardiff Rugby ( cy, Rygbi Caerdydd) are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions.
