St. Mary's School, Pune
St. Mary's School, Pune, India, was founded in 1866 to cater to the education of the daughters of officers of the British Indian Army who were posted to Pune. From 1866 to 1977, the school was run by the Sisters of the Community of St Mary the Virgin, an Anglican order based in Wantage, England. In 2019, a list made by EduWorld showed that St. Mary's School, Pune was the 7th best all-girls day school in India.It recently celebrated 150 years of establishment. In 1977 it was decided at Wantage to hand over the school to secular administrators because as times had changed: the increased administrative work involved in running a school was felt by the community felt to be incompatible with their religious life. Elizabeth Matthew who had been a senior English teacher with the school since 1973, had been appointed Vice-Principal in June 1976. FIRST Championship
The FIRST Championship is a four-day robotics championship held annually in April at which FIRST student robotics teams compete. For several years, the event was held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia, but moved to the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri in 2011, where it remained through 2017. In 2017, the Championship was split into two events, being additionally held at the George R. Brown Convention Center and Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. In 2018 and 2019, the Championship was held in Houston and Detroit, Michigan at the TCF Center and Ford Field. The Bishop's School (Pune)
The Bishop's School is an Indian private, unaided (independent) minority school, for boarding and day students between Nursery and 12th grade. It is located in Pune, which is the cultural capital of the state of Maharashtra. It was founded in 1864 by Bishop Harding, the adjutant general of the British Indian Army. The school was envisioned as a self-supporting institution founded for the children of warrant officers and non-commissioned officers stationed at Pune who, not belonging to Regiments, did not have regimental facilities. The ''FIRST'' LEGO League Challenge (formerly known as ''FIRST'' LEGO League) is an international competition organized by ''FIRST'' for elementary and middle school students (ages 9–14 in the United States and Canada, 9–16 elsewhere). Each year in August, FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams are introduced to a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research on. The robotics part of the competition involves designing and programming Lego Education robots to complete tasks.
