St. Francis Xavier High School (Edmonton)
St. Francis Xavier High School is a high school in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is operated by Edmonton Catholic Schools System. The school started in 1955, with the purpose built school (since expanded) opened in 1958. Originally part of the Town of Jasper Place school system, St. Francis Xavier transferred to the Edmonton system when Jasper Place amalgamated with Edmonton in 1964. Academic program In addition to the regular Alberta high school curriculum, the school offers a number of specialized programs. Dave Hoyda
David Allan Hoyda (May 20, 1957 – February 8, 2015) was a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Hoyda played four seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Philadelphia Flyers and Winnipeg Jets. He was known primarily as an enforcer. Hoyda was raised in Cherhill, Alberta, and later attended St. Francis Xavier High School in Edmonton while he played Canadian Junior "A" hockey with the Spruce Grove Mets. Hoyda and the Mets won the 1975 Canadian Junior "A" national championship. ITU World Triathlon Series
The World Triathlon Championship Series is World Triathlon's annual series of triathlon events used to crown an annual world champion since 2008. There are multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Athletes compete head-to-head for points in these races that will determine the overall World Triathlon champion. The elite championship races are held, with one exception, over two distances, the standard or 'Olympic' distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) and the sprint distance (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run). Paula Findlay (born May 26, 1989) is a Canadian triathlete. Life and career Findlay was born in Edmonton, Alberta. On September 9, 2009, Findlay competed at the Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Grand Final in Gold Coast, Australia. She placed third in the under 23 women race. In April 2010, Findlay won the 2010 Monterrey ITU Triathlon World Cup Elite Women's race. She also had a victory at the June 26th Coteau-du-Lac ITU Triathlon Pan American Cup. On July 24, Findlay won the ITU World Championship Series event held in London. She then won the ITU Triathlon World Championships Series event in Kitzbühel on August 14, making Findlay the only female triathlete to win consecutive ITU World Championship Series events in 2010. Tyler Foster Ennis (born October 6, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward, who plays for SC Bern of the Swiss National League. He was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Medicine Hat Tigers of the major junior Western Hockey League (WHL). Kevin Connauton (born February 23, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL).
