St. Dominic's High School
St Dominic's Grammar School for Girls (Irish: Scoil Ghramadaí Naomh Doiminic do Chailíní), formerly St Dominic's High School, is a Catholic grammar school for girls aged 11–18 (Years 8–14), in Belfast, Northern Ireland. History St. Dominic's was founded by the Dominican Order in 1870 at the invitation of the Most Reverend Dr. Dorrian, Bishop of Down and Connor on the Falls Road in Belfast. It was originally named St. Mary's Dominican Convent. When it opened on April 25, 1870, there were four pupils enrolled. The Boarding School opened on April 29 with one pupil and the Study Hall Block was built in 1897. The school has grown significantly over the years with the addition of the St. Margaret's Wing in 1950's, St. Thomas's Building in 1960s and the erection of St. Ita's and St.Raymond's in the 1970s. Easter Rising
The Easter Rising ( ga, Éirí Amach na Cásca), also known as the Easter Rebellion, was an armed insurrection in Ireland during Easter Week in April 1916. Emma Magee
Emma Magee (born 11 November 1997) is a Northern Ireland netball international and an Antrim ladies' Gaelic footballer. She was a member of the Northern Ireland team at the 2019 Netball World Cup. Her younger sister, Michelle Magee, is also a Northern Ireland netball international and an Antrim ladies' Gaelic footballer. As an academic, she specialises in company law, financial regulation, and corporate finance. Patricia Craig (born 1940s) is a writer, anthology, anthologist and literary critic from Northern Ireland, living in Antrim, County Antrim. Personal life She was born in Belfast to Nora (née Brady) and Andy Craig and attended St Dominic's Grammar School for Girls before studying at the Ulster University, Belfast School of Art and then at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London (where she obtained a Diploma in Art & Design, Hons.). Anna Carragher (born 9 July 1948) is an Irish former broadcasting executive and television producer. From 2000 to 2006, she was Controller of BBC Northern Ireland. Early life and education Carragher was born on 9 July 1948 to Thomas Carragher and Eileen Carragher. Her father was a shipyard electrician and trade unionist, and Irish Labour councillor. Betty Williams (Nobel Laureate)
Elizabeth Williams ( Smyth; 22 May 1943 – 17 March 2020) was a peace activist from Northern Ireland. She was a co-recipient with Mairead Corrigan of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976 for her work as a cofounder of Community of Peace People, an organisation dedicated to promoting a peaceful resolution to the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Williams headed the Global Children's Foundation and was the President of the World Centre of Compassion for Children International.
