Metro Alliance
The Metro Alliance was a Minnesota State High School League-sanctioned athletics conference that existed from 1997 to 2005. The conference was formed for the 1997-98 school year by seven schools. The majority of the schools came from the Tri-Metro Conference and included Brooklyn Center High School, Mahtomedi High School, Mound Westonka High School, Orono High School, and St. Anthony Village High School. Columbia Heights High School and Fridley High School, the other two founding members of the conference, left the North Suburban Conference to join. Farmington High School declined an invitation to be an eighth founding member; however, Benilde-St. Margaret's ultimately joined the conference as final school. Joseph Richard Pawlik is a marine biologist. He is the Frank Hawkins Kenan Distinguished Professor of Marine Biology in the Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He is best known for studies of sponges on Caribbean coral reefs that reveal ecological principles such as resource trade-offs, trophic cascades and indirect effects. Phil Carruthers
Phil Carruthers (born December 8, 1953) is an American judge and former Minnesota politician and former member and Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. He is also the former director of the Civil Division at the Ramsey County Attorney's Office. On September 14, 2011, Governor Mark Dayton appointed Carruthers as a judge to the Minnesota Fourth District Court. Carruthers came to Minnesota in 1961 with his parents, who were Canadian citizens. He graduated from St. Anthony Village High School and the University of Minnesota before attending the University of Minnesota Law School. Irondale High School is a public high school in New Brighton, Minnesota, United States. Part of the Mounds View Public Schools district, the school is in a suburban area ten miles north of downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Irondale made headlines in late 2011 when it introduced its Early College program, which began in the 2012–13 school year.
